As our lips touch, and when he kisses me as if I’m the most important thing in his world, I realize he’s more than close to being the man I always dreamed of being with.

He’s him.

Hunter is the guy.

Chapter 23

Hunter

Luna slips her arms around my neck and watches me drink the glass of scotch.

We're out on the pool deck, playing a game again with more questions, but this time, we've turned it into a drinking game.

My beautiful wife is sitting on my lap wearing nothing but my shirt, which swamps her tiny frame. She looks like a goddess in my arms.

Over the last day and a half, we've played all sorts of games. Each one saw us heading straight back to bed, where I devoured her.

Tonight, we're making the most of the time we have left together. I have to leave at lunchtime tomorrow, and I won't see Luna again for almost another week.

I’ll finally be getting the CEO title of Le Blanche Global, but then I have all sorts of things scheduled in that my father has planned for the company handover. Then I'll be in the LA office for a few days.

Once again, I'll be crazy busy, and things won't calm down for a long time to come.

Usually, I wouldn’t even notice, but that was before I had a wife.

“What’s your question?” I ask her as she continues watching me with interest flickering in her bright blue gaze.

In this game, we drink each time we’re asked a question.

“What’s your favorite food?” she asks.

“Steak.”

She laughs. “Really?”

“Yes. I like mine medium or well done, preferably from a Brazilian steakhouse.”

“That sounds nice.” She runs her tongue over her bottom lip.

“It is. We’ll go sometime soon.”

“I’d like that.”

"Your turn." I set down my glass on the table.

Luna pours wine for herself into a tumbler like mine. She gulps it down, and I watch her savor the taste. It's a sweet hundred-year-old wine my father gave us as a wedding present.

"Ask away," she says, straightening.

I'm on my sixth question. We've been asking each other little things, like our favorite color, favorite book, favorite country, favorite holiday destination.

Nothing too heavy. I feel, though, that we're approaching those questions, the more difficult ones.

"What's your favorite movie?"

"Gone with the Wind," she replies without hesitation. "Gone with the Wind and anything with Vivien Leigh. She's my favorite actress. My mother got me hooked on her."

"Wow, I would've never guessed that about you."
