She tilts her head and gives me a quizzical stare. "What did you think my favorite movie was?"

I raise my shoulders into a shrug. "Something like Once Upon a Time in China, or Kung Fu Masters."

Luna bursts out laughing and shakes her head at me. I like making her laugh.

I also like these moments when we're just a couple. It feels like we've stepped outside of the sphere of reality to create our own.

"Did you think that because I like manga?"

"Yes. Although, I know those are Chinese movies, whereas manga is Japanese. I thought maybe you liked movies with fighting in it."

She laughs even more. "That's not why I like manga. I like it because it's cool and different. I love the stories and the style of drawing." She nods with pride. "I enjoy reading them and drawing them."

"I need to see some of these drawings of yours." I press my head to hers, and she runs her fingers over my beard.

"I'll show you when you get back."

"Good. And I get it; I understand why you think manga is cool. How did you get into it?"

"High school," she says with reflection. "There was a club. I joined it when I didn't get on the cheerleading squad. It turned out I love that a whole lot more."

"Cheerleading is so overrated." I smirk.

"And yet, I'm sure you dated every cheerleader in your school."

"Hey." I pretend to be insulted. "I was young and dumb. I make better life choices now, wife." I say that word with emphasis. In the moonlight, a blush creeps into her cheeks, and she looks like a neo-noir painting. A splash of red against a stormy backdrop.

Luna blushes like that every time I call her my wife. It's a pretty sight. The kind you always want to remember.

"You do make better life choices now, husband."

A gentle smile floats across her lips. And I'll be damned if I don't like when she calls me her husband. The sound of that word does something to me. Something that gives me purpose despite all my reservations and worries about our marriage.

I've been going through the motions ever since I realized that I wanted her.

I don't have a plan or anything yet, and honestly, I'm still stuck in limbo, but I guess I'm doing what Asher said I should do—see how everything goes and take one step at a time.

"Your turn, Shark." She taps my chest and giggles again.

I pour more scotch and knock it back. "Give me your question."

"Okay, and I get a few because you asked me loads of questions in one."

"Sure, fire away."

"If you love sailing so much, why didn't you get into it more?" She searches my eyes. "You look excited when you talk about sailing. It's not the same as when you talk about working at Le Blanche Global."

That's a very good question, and she's completely right. Anyone who knows me, and even if you don't know me, will notice the big difference when I talk about sailing.

I don't feel the same excitement about work, although, of course, I love the prospect of everything that my family company will give me.

"The family business has always required that I focus solely on preparing myself to take over the company someday," I explain. "As the eldest Le Blanche son, I knew that was going to be my path, so there was no way around it. Sailing was always going to be a hobby for me."

She looks sad. "I'm sorry. Didn't that ever make you angry? I can't imagine how I'd feel if I were in the same situation."

I think back to a time when maybe I was angry and thought I was being controlled.

"In my teens, I was angry. I wanted to sail the world, but I came around eventually when I saw what I could achieve at Le Blanche Global. Duty called."
