I sigh, torn between the life waiting for me and Thor’s magnetic pull on my heart. “I don’t know,” I admit. “Everything is so complicated.”

Thor’s eyes search mine, understanding flickering in their depths. “I won’t pretend to have all the answers, Charlotte,” he says earnestly. “But I do know that when we’re together, everything feels right, but some things here make staying with me in Vegas unsafe.”

“The club?” I ask. “That’s what you meant by business in Vegas at dinner. You’re here for your club.”

“I am,” he admits. “Being with me here will paint a target on your back. I can’t do that to you, but I also don’t want you to go, either.”

I take a moment to process Thor’s words, my mind swirling with conflicting emotions. The allure of staying with him and exploring the depths of our connection is undeniable. But the danger that comes with it weighs heavily on my heart.

“What if we… find a way to make it work?” I suggest tentatively. “Somehow navigate through the complications?”

Thor’s gaze softens as he considers my proposal, his thumb gently tracing circles on my lower back. “I won’t lie, Charlotte. If you stay here with me, it may not be safe for you.”

I bite my lip, contemplating the possibilities. Staying with Thor would mean stepping into a world of uncertainty, one where danger lurks around every corner. But it would also mean embracing a love and passion I’ve never experienced.

“Sometimes…” I begin, my voice barely above a whisper, “… the things worth having in life come with risks. And maybe, just maybe, we can face those risks together.”

Thor’s eyes search mine for a long moment before a soft smile spreads across his face. “Are you sure?” he asks, his voice laced with concern.

I nod, determination igniting within me. “I’m sure,” I reply resolutely. “I want to be with you, Thor. I want to explore what we have without regrets.”

Thor’s expression shifts from concern to one of hope and tenderness. He leans forward and presses a gentle kiss against my forehead, his arms tightening around me.

“Then we’ll figure it out,” he murmurs against my skin.

CHAPTER 11

THOR

Leaving Charlotte to hang out with Minny was a tough decision, but I didn’t want to be selfish and keep her all to myself in my room. After all, she had come here with her friend and deserved to spend time with her. They’d gone out to dinner together and then went back to their room to pack before she had to take Minny to the airport for her early flight, and after that, she’d be on the road to California.

The thought that she would be going to California left me conflicted. I came here for the club. I never intended to stumble into something bigger than just club business. But fate has a peculiar way of entwining lives when you least expect it. The club has always been my sanctuary, a place where I can lose myself in the rhythm of the music and forget about the complexities of life. But now, everything feels different.

I have never let emotions dictate my actions, but something about Charlotte has stirred a long-dormant part of me—a part that can’t envision life without her at my side. Though neither of us is prepared to say “I love you” after only a few days of knowing each other, I could envision our relationship potentially heading in that direction one day. However, there are many challenges and obstacles ahead of us for now, but I have faith.

The first obstacle is already staring me in the face, saying goodbye. This could be my last chance to see her, and letting her slip away without a goodbye isn’t going to happen.

I pull out my phone and send Charlotte a text.

Me: Meet me on the rooftop terrace.

Charlotte: When did you get my phone number?

Me: Doesn’t matter. Meet me. Please.

Charlotte: On my way.

Ten minutes later, Charlotte walks through the door, a smile forming when she spies me. She walks toward me, shaking her head.

“I’m starting to feel a little déjà vu.”

I chuckle, the sound echoing through the empty rooftop terrace. “Well, I couldn’t resist the chance to see you again before you leave.”

Charlotte raises an eyebrow, her gaze flickering with curiosity. “And how did you manage to get my phone number?”

I shrug nonchalantly, trying to hide the mischief dancing in my eyes. “Let’s just say I have my ways.”

She scoffs, playfully swatting my arm. “You’re such a mystery, aren’t you?”
