I shudder when I think about what Charity told me. “Ah, yeah, Charity was telling me about some of it before she had to leave for an emergency mid-piercing.”
“You got a piercing?” Miller asks, sounding surprised and interested, and nonaggressive for the first time since I’ve known him. “I didn’t see one.”
I feel myself blush, and I want to punch myself in the tit. Jesus, Kenz, get your shit together. “Ah, yeah, I got it in a place where the Standishes wouldn’t see it.”
“So belly button then?” Miller smirks. “How very cheerleader of you.” I know he’s laughing at me, so I flip him off.
“No,” Dayton grunts, and everyone turns to look at him.
“Oh yeah? And how do you know where she got pierced?” Anders asks, crossing his arms and raising an eyebrow.
I start to giggle as he shifts uncomfortably. “Because Dayton had to take over when Charity left, and she’d only gotten as far as putting the needle through. He had to put the bar in.”
“So nipple then if you got a bar,” Ryland guesses, and I shrug.
“No. Lower.”
His eyes widen, and his gaze drops to my pussy. “Oh!”
“Yeah, and he really had a hard time getting that little ball onto the end of the bar.” I meet Dayton’s eyes, and I can feel the heat between us, even though he’s sitting on the other side of the room.
“Whore!” Bishop coughs into his hand, and Max makes a fist and pounds it into his face. Bishop’s eyes roll back in his head, and he’s out like a light.
“He really can’t take a hit, can he?” I say conversationally.
“The guy is a grade A pussy. Are you going to tell your dad about this?” Max replies, shaking out his hand.
“Yeah, I’m going to have to. That crack about telling everyone what Princess Kensington is like is too much of a threat. He can’t be left with that kind of knowledge without learning the consequences.”
“Fucking hell, that fucking cunt.” Miller picks something up, and I think he’s going to throw it, but Anders jumps up and grabs it out of his hand.
“Not here, man. Jeff loves his things, and he’s kindly letting us stay here, so let’s not destroy them.”
Lathan gestures to his computer. “Shall we get the director on a chat so we can all talk to him about it? It will probably be best if we tell him about our issues first.”
“Yeah, that sounds good.” I grab my phone and look at the time. “He should still be awake.”
Lathan presses a few buttons, and the screen starts making the calling sound.
“You know, I had no idea my dad was the handler for another team, and I’d never heard of you before all this. Why is that? I’ve tested lots of teams over the years, except yours.”
Before anyone can answer, Dad does. Lathan situates the screen in front of the sofa so that Dayton, Max, and an unconscious Bishop can be seen. Anders and Miller slide in behind, and Ryland scoots over on the floor, sliding in next to Lathan who has moved back slightly so Dad can see everyone.
“Hi, guys, what’s up? And why the fuck is Bishop unconscious?” Dad starts breezily, but we can hear his concern by the end.
“Because he was mouthing off and went too far this time.” Max takes charge, running a hand through his short curls and grimacing. “I’m sorry, Percy, but this isn’t working. We really did try, I promise. Even Miller made an effort, but he just doesn’t want to be a team player.”
I hear my dad sigh. “What did he do this time?”
I climb down onto the floor and crawl into the picture, wiggling my body between Lathan’s and Ryland’s, who both chuckle at my antics.
“Oh, Kenzie love? Well, this is a nice surprise, and none of you have killed each other yet. That warms my heart,” my dad jokes, but I can tell he is really relieved.
“Hey, Dad. Bishop is a giant dick. Not only is he messing around with the girls in the high school, but he threatened to out Princess Kensington.”
“And he called her a whore,” Miller grinds out from between clenched teeth.
Wow, he really took exception to me being called a whore. I wonder if we are more alike than I thought. I see Dad’s eyes widen at Miller’s fury.
