Maja smiled at me.

“He's my hero, even if he's a bit grumpy sometimes,” she admitted.

Two days later, I asked Veronica to meet me at the park since I had Maja with me. I had promised her we’d have some girl time together, and of course, she loved the idea.

After the incident at the school, Spencer had to go on a diplomatic trip to Sweden. But it was okay because Maja was still on cloud nine about her father’s heroic stance with her headmistress.

I was now convinced Spencer was a good man, deep down, so I set our differences aside for a while. Particularly the incident at his fuck pad. I wanted him, but it could never happen because he was still my boss and a national leader.

“Hey, Maja, how are you doing? I’m Veronica, Laura’s roommate. It’s really nice to meet you.” Veronica appeared out of nowhere and hugged us. As usual, she looked absolutely stunning in a yellow jumpsuit and several bracelets on her wrist.

Even Maja seemed impressed by her outfit.

“Wow, I love these. I wanted to wear some to school, but they wouldn’t let me. You are so cool.” Maja touched Veronica’s bracelets.

My roommate laughed as she sat on the blanket next to us.

“Here, have these. I've several more at home,” Veronica handed Maja some of her funky bracelets.

The girl’s eyes went wide.

“Thank you so much. Oh! There’s Bianca. Let me show these to her,” she said excitedly, then stood and walked to her friend whom she’d spotted strolling close by.

It was a nice coincidence that Maja’s friend was in the park, too. Bianca’s mother was very sick, so Bianca didn’t attend school full time. She was homeschooled during certain days of the week, so she could spend more time with her. It appeared that Bianca was there with her mother, who was waving to me now, so I waved back.

A couple of agents were watching us from afar. Their presence was slightly unnerving, but at least they kept to themselves for the most part, so we could be somewhat normal.

“Don’t wander off too far!” I called out, reassured that the agents kept a close eye on her, too. They did blend well with the surroundings, I had to admit.

“So tell me, what did Spencer do this time?” Veronica lay down on the blanket I’d just spread out to soak up some sun.

It was boiling today, and I made a mental note to move into the shade soon.

I hadn’t spoken to Veronica since our conversation about the disastrous Friday night saga because we had both been busy. But now that she’d brought it up, the memories came rushing back, and I felt myself blushing, thinking about how fierce Spencer had looked when he’d fought to protect Maja. I quickly filled Veronica in about the incident of Maja punching that boy at school and Spencer taking over.

“Wow, Laura, this is huge and totally unexpected. So he actually wiped the floor with that bitchy headmistress?” she asked as we both watched Maja and her friend who were talking by the tree.

I remained sitting, leaning back on my hands on the blanket, careful not to lose sight of my charge.

“Yes, and I couldn’t really believe it myself, but he was so good at handling that! Afterwards, he took us to Harrods for ice cream. He really made a huge impression on me,” I said with a sigh.

That afternoon, the three of us had spent an amazing time in Harrods. It was tricky to get security to work, but the store staff cooperated wonderfully. For a couple of hours, we sat in a private area and enjoyed a great time together.

She grinned, and I almost told her about how attracted I was to Spencer, but I held back. Besides, I needed to ask her about Rupert, since she was now working for him. Was she was planning to quit being an escort because of it? Spencer’s brother had invested in the Emperor Club and became the silent partner right before that incident in the club.

“Now, tell me, how is work and Rupert? Do you actually see him often?”

“He comes in with Matthews, but we barely talk. He doesn’t want me to work as an escort. He also knows that I'll never find a job that pays so well. Content creation takes time, and I still have to build my profile on Instagram,” she explained.

After Veronica’s video had gone viral on TikTok, she’d gained over a hundred thousand followers in the blink of an eye, and she’d started posting about other things. A lot of new brands wanted to work with her, and she told me that eventually, she really wanted to quit being an high-class courtesan. Yet, that was a huge decision she wasn’t ready to make. I believed she could do whatever she wanted. Veronica was smart. She’d graduated in Media and Communication from one of the best universities, top of her class, too. She would take advantage of a great opportunity.

“So he hasn’t tried to ask you out or anything? Oh, Veronica, I know you like him. You said it yourself that he was the best sex you’ve ever had,” I reminded her.

Since she’d come back from Greece, she had never stopped talking about Rupert.

She rolled her eyes and twisted her head a bit to look at me.

“True, and he did ask me out a few times, but he was also rude and cold, so I said I wasn't interested. Rupert wants me for himself. He keeps saying he doesn’t like sharing, but we aren’t even dating, and he should know that he can’t just dictate how I should live my life,” she said, mindlessly picking at some grapes that I’d brought with us and popped one in her mouth.
