Levi zeroed in on him with such unwavering focus, another shiver tore down his spine, urging the warmth at the bottom to swirl faster.

"And I'm an unclaimed alpha in his late twenties."

Elias said nothing, gulping down a few more mouthfuls of coffee. It didn't taste like anything anymore. That happened to him when his panic climbed. Food became bland and ashy while drinks were nothing but tasteless water.

His stomach heaved at the thought, so he set the mug down and turned his face to stare out the window, watching the roving, elegant Hamton residents make their way home. Levi surged ahead, refusing to be cowed.

"We both work in high-strung, demanding positions."

Elias deigned to nod.

"We both don't have time for the added weight of a relationship."

He flinched, but nodded again.

"And we're both looking for some release, right? A way to let go without becoming attached?"

The last question had an answer that was simultaneously easy and difficult. On the one hand, Elias was dying for what he'd tasted this morning. That lack of control and total submission his omega craved like water in the middle of a desert. Elias allowed himself to imagine it, to think of every depraved position he wanted the alpha to pretzel him into, dick twitching in interest.

Levi was someone who was attentive enough in bed to learn all your quirks and kinks just by watching you writhe. And Elias would drown in that. He would embrace it to the fullest because he didn't know how to do anything else.

His mind couldn't handle the eventual demands of his body. Sure, they'd start off right. Hitting each other up for sex a few times a week to scratch the itch. Then they would increase it from two times to four, and from four to six, and soon they would be tangled every night, having sex like rabbits in heat. Scratching, dragging, pulling, tearing. Devolved into animals at the mere brush of skin on skin.

He'd go to work bruised and battered. Exhausted and emotionally drained, yet satiated. He pondered Levi's thoughts on an omega choosing not to use blockers, given that they acquired all the required pheromones through sex. It'd probably be an affront to his pride.

"That's your proposal?" he settled for saying, grasping onto his unease and anger like a lifeline. "You want to be fuck buddies?"

He chanced a glance at Levi to find him shaking his head, eyes darkening as he straightened the watch across his wrist like it was a tic. "No, I'd like you to become my submissive."

Elias' gaze blew wide as he sat back again, hands dangling between his legs and eyes darting like crazy around the room to make certain no one heard that. He reveled in being chosen out of everyone else, ignoring the roar of surprised pleasure coming from his omega. Thankfully, all three polished tables around them were empty. The rest of the patrons were busy chatting or working with headphones in and, for once, Sel wasn't staring.

Whew…

"Don't say stuff like that in public," Elias hissed, shifting in his seat.

Levi scrutinized him, his grin turning wicked. "Why? Does it excite you? Are you thinking about it right now?"

His cheeks flamed. "No!"

"Liar," the alpha purred, placing both thick forearms on the table as he licked his lips. "Think about me stringing your luscious, freckled body up on my cross and tracing over your sweet skin with my tongue until you beg to be fucked."

Elias swallowed hard, thanking the Goddess for the absolute work his blockers were putting in. On a cross...? Elias had had his fair share of rough and kinky sex, but never like that. Never in a controlled environment where a dom would walk him through it, step by step, until he was begging for cock. The idea was more than enough to get him interested.

Desire was an overwhelming tide now. Splashing from one side of his body to the other and refusing to be ignored. He weathered it well as he tightly gripped both knees and leaned forward, refusing to press his hot face against the cool wood. Because he didn't deserve relief. Not when he'd just keep on chasing the next hit.

"I—"

"Shush," Levi admonished before he could say a single thing. "Don't give me an answer now. Just think about it. Reach out when you're ready."

Then the alpha was up and pressing a business card into his palm before walking away. Back turned, not a moment's hesitation. Elias was shell-shocked in comparison. Levi said a polite goodbye to Sel before exiting the shop, the bells tinkling and all eyes on him. Elias wanted to move, to prove he could do the same, but his body sat completely still, his omega mind bleating in need.

Elias told himself to move, to get up and stop this madness because he was more human than beast, no matter how often he felt otherwise. Slowly, each limb rotated as if shedding a coat of rust until he was cognizant enough to stand. Sel met him at the edge of the table, holding his elbow with worried eyes.

"Are you alright man? Who was that?"

Elias was still fixated on Levi—still pondering what sensations would arise from being connected to a cross, exposed and anticipating whatever gratification the alpha judged him deserving of.

"Uh, um," he fumbled, closing his eyes. "I'm fine. He was a colleague who turned into something else."
