Page 36 of Knot Fit For Love

Like a storm, this alpha was fierce, yet he had a transformative effect, propelling you forward instead of holding you back. Gathering every small detail and fragment of yourself while coaxing it out. There was never a question of whether he was forcing anything. Elias wanted to word vomit all over the table about his likes, dislikes, and life.

It was odd.

The three men encircling him, behaving like snarling and snapping dogs, each surprised him in their own way. Elias ran one finger around and around the rim of his mug, staring at the foam leaf design on the very top. It was a little lopsided from his earlier sip and missing a few leaves.

"You don't have to be nervous. I don't bite," Levi drawled.

Elias glanced at him. "I know that, and I'm not nervous. I'm just…"

He trailed off, unsure of what to say next. Elias planned on having a pleasant, thought-provoking conversation with the alpha before delivering the news, but now that he was here, it seemed like an injustice.

"I have to tell you something," he finished.

Levi ate the other half of his pastry, eyes closing in satisfaction for a minute before he nodded, giving Elias his full attention. He took a deep breath, then another when it didn't help the anxiety swirling at the bottom of his stomach or stop the burning fire sitting right beside it. Elias buzzed with overstimulation, needing release. When he discharged his breath, the words came pouring out.

"I'm with someone already. Well, not really with them, but, uh, we're sexually together. First, I fell prey to Car Guy, who's this super dominant alpha. He wants to be our third because I might've made a bad judgment call while in pre-heat and had sex with him in the back of a car, which was my first time being with an alpha in six years because my pheromones are poison and I'm a heartless monster. Then I had the worst heat of my life and begged my best friend of twenty years to knot me a few days later, ruining our friendship. After I woke up, I saw your email and felt guilty all over again. Oh, and Car Guy came knocking at my door, but by then, it was too late because I was with the other guy who promised to love me either way, causing me to experience even greater distress. Now I'm here, and I feel like a whore."

Okay, now that was word vomit.

Elias blushed from his chest up to the roots of his hair and dropped his face into his hands. Was he clammy? Too warm? He almost hoped he was coming down with a fever because of the rain, just to blame that horrible explanation on something else. Thankfully, it was a furious whisper, so no one else could've heard.

"Elias," Levi said, voice soft.

It was so satisfying, his name slipping free of the alpha's mouth. Levi's tongue embraced the syllables, igniting an even stronger sensation in Elias. He stayed in his hunched position, his fingers slipping upward to tug his hair, eliciting a wince.

Anxiety bled into panic the more the silence stretched, but he had no fucking idea what else to say. Couldn't Levi have just gotten up, scoffed, and stormed out? That would be so much easier.

"Elias, look at me."

That wasn't a request, it was a command. He glanced up through his fingers, lips firmly shut. Across the table, Levi leaned in as close as possible, setting the coffees aside to give Elias his complete focus. There was no judgment or anger, either, only compassion.

"You're a grown man with the ability to make his own decisions, omega or not, and no one has autonomy over your choices. If you want to be with three men, we can make that work."

Elias' head spun as he sat up, slumping his waterlogged body back into the booth and wiping sweat away from his forehead. He stared at Levi the whole time, trying to figure him out. Most alphas would be completely unwilling to share. It wasn't in their nature. Yet, there he sat, facing the third alpha in less than a day, who informed him that having sex with multiple men was his choice to make.

Would you ever consider a third?

It's your choice.

If you want to be with three men, we can make that work.

What the hell was going on? Elias wiped his face again, this time with his napkin while ignoring what being clammy and weak might mean. A fever was a convenient excuse to flee into the afternoon rain once more, but he didn't want to do that just yet.

"Why are you okay with that? And why with a stranger? You barely know me."

Levi shrugged and sat back again. "I've been part of clubs for a long time now, and it isn't uncommon for omegas to have multiple alphas they like to be dominated by. This is no different, and as far as not knowing one another goes, that might be true, but I'd like the opportunity to change that. So, what do you say?"

Elias blinked at him for a minute of unbearable silence, thoughts racing with every single potential outcome. He swallowed, then swallowed again.

"You first sought me out to make a deal. We get together because we're both single and going into our thirties, but did you ever stop to think I had a reason for that?"

Levi tilted his head and took a sip of his drink, the flame mug bright and funky against such a put-together alpha. He still wore a suit today despite it being a Sunday afternoon, this time in a stunning shade of navy.

"You mentioned poisonous pheromones and think yourself to be a heartless monster, but I need more context to make a sound judgement."

Elias couldn't meet Levi's eyes, so he stared out at the passing traffic instead to watch the puddles splash up against the gray sidewalk. By clutching his mug and calming down, he could find some therapeutic relief and stop his hands from trembling.

"It's officially called pheromone hyperaction, but it makes it impossible for alphas to control themselves when I'm in heat and/or they're in rut. They become true, undiluted animals…"
