“What?” She blinked innocently at him. “How do you think I found out?”

He… his brain stopped working.

“What are you saying?”

“I’m just saying that sometimes you gotta try on the clothes to know if they fit,” she said with a shrug.

“Mom,” he whined.

That… was not something he wanted to hear from his mom.

“You asked,” she said, giving him a pointed look.

“I was asking about me not you.”

Mom leaned back in her chair and crossed her arms, head cocked to the side.

“So, there’s a boy you like?”

He released a long, drawn-out groan and dropped his head back, then mumbled, “Yes.”

“Alright, then.” She pushed her chair back and stood. “Do you have room for dessert?”

“What kind of question is that?” he asked, ginning up at her.

She pursed her lips and nodded, then went to the kitchen. She returned with two spoons and a tub of his favorite ice cream.

“You up for gaining some pounds, watching a cringy Hallmark movie, and talking feelings?” she asked.

He could only smile and nod.

He’d known she would be fine with the gay, bi, whatever part. He remembered quite vividly when he’d been a kid and had joined in on using some not-so-nice words about gays with the other boys in his class and his mom had sat him down and given him the sternest talking to she’d ever given him. What he remembered most was how ashamed he’d felt because he’d disappointed his mom. He’d worked very hard from then on to never disappoint her again. He’d failed many times, obviously, but he kept trying.

CHAPTER FOUR

Kody

HIS PULSE picked up speed the second he stepped out of Cora’s car and saw the very real bar right there in front of him. It only got worse the closer they got to it. Holy shit. This was a bad idea. The worst.

“This is ridiculous.”

He turned around and tried to head back to the car but an iron grip on his arm pulled him to a halt.

“Not a chance I’m letting you pass this up,” Cora said.

Kody groaned and turned back around.

He threw up his hands. “We don’t even know if he’s here. Or if he’s even into guys. Or me.”

Cora arched a brow at him.

“You won’t know unless you give it a shot.”

“Yeah. Literally. You realize he might actually shoot me, right? I’ve read up on outlaw bikers. They’re no joke and I doubt they’re gay-friendly.”

“Well, good thing I’ve read up on Ace’s club then. Or, you know, stalked them a bit with the help of our buddies in blue. Anyway, the president is married to a guy.”

“What? Really?”
