A throat clearing had Kody pulling back reluctantly. Very reluctantly.

A man with a dark beard and brown eyes was watching them, arms crossed as he gave them a hard look and said, “There are kids present.”

Kody pulled a face and hurried to get off Ace, glaring when Ace huffed out a laugh.

“I’m pretty sure she’d protest to being called a kid,” Ace said, a note of amusement in his voice.

A young woman appeared next to the man, her hands on her hips as she glared at him.

“Did you just call me a kid?”

The man shrugged and said, “I was talking about Kaz.”

“Riiight,” the woman drawled.

Ace’s snort had Kody snapping his gaze back onto him.

“Babe, this is Griff and his daughter Mia.”

“Oh. Uh, h-hi,” Kody stammered out as he got up to offer Griff his hand.

Griff was smirking as he shook Kody’s hand.

“So, you’re the guy,” Griff said.

Kody nodded. “I sure hope so.”

He looked at Ace and from the love and devotion staring back at him, he had no doubt, because Ace was his guy.

Ace

Griff had threatened bodily harm if he didn’t go shower and despite how much he didn’t want to be apart from Kody, not even for a second, he’d gone upstairs. Stepping into the shower, he had to admit that it felt nice to wash off the grime and sweat.

When he stepped out of the shower, he grabbed a towel and rubbed it over his hair, then dried off his body. The towel ended up on the floor while he headed for the attached bedroom only to come to a sharp halt before he even reached the door.

He was as naked as the day he was born, and he didn’t have any clean clothes.

Why the hell hadn’t he thought about that before now? God dammit.

With a deep groan, he walked into the bedroom, a burst of laughter escaping him when he saw a neat pile of clothes waiting for him on the bed.

Griff. Always the dad.

He would have to give the man a big kiss because while he didn’t mind people seeing him naked, he was quite sure Kody would mind. He sure as hell didn’t want others seeing Kody naked. Kody was his. He wanted him to himself.

He hurried to get dressed and then he made his way downstairs. The second he stepped off the stairs, his gaze found Kody. He was standing by a couch, Jace and Mia next to him. Jace was telling Kody something that had him smiling and, when he looked up, catching Ace’s gaze, the look in those eyes had a shiver running through him.

He jumped when a hand landed on his shoulder.

“I like him”, Griff said.

“Me, too.”

Griff laughed heartily and shook his head, then said, “Yeah, I gathered as much.”

Ace shook his head, eyes never leaving Kody as he spoke. “I think I’ll need a property patch.”

“You plan on claiming him?”
