No one said anything for I don’t know how long. I knew the wheels were spinning so fast in his head that he could barely keep up. Trying to figure out how he could weasel his way out of this and save his sorry ass.

“So.” I stood, leaning over the table. “Eeny, meeny, miny, moe, which do you think we should tell the press first?”

“You can’t do this to me!”

“You mean like you reduced my credibility to nothing!”

“I’ll retract my statement and say I lied.”

“Oh, you’re going to do that and a lot more.”

My father peered back and forth between us, knowing Kyle’s end was near.

“You’re going to write Amber a big-ass check that has multiple zeros before you walk out that door because the truth is, you didn’t deserve either of us.”

“What about the rest?”

I shrugged. “I mean, I guess we could keep the evidence of the fraud and whatever else that doesn’t include you lying about my affair that never happened. It’s only a matter of time until your board members find out and fry your ass. I honestly don’t want to involve myself in the disaster of a fictitious life you’ve formed for yourself. So before you waste all of your money, Amber deserves a nice sum for believing your lies like I did.”

“How much did they pay you for this, Amber? Huh? How much was it for you to betray me?”

She cocked her head to the side, snapping, “Not. One. Dime. In fact, I was the one who called Capri and told her I needed to make things right because I couldn’t live with myself anymore. The world needs to see you for the asshole that you are. All you did was lie to me about your love, all you wanted was to cheat on your fiancée. You never loved me, and I hate that it took me this long to figure it out. Capri was nothing but good to me, and I took that trust and threw it in her face, and I have to live with myself for that.”

“You’ve more than made amends, Amber.”

She smiled at my statement.

It didn’t take long for Kyle to agree to each one of our demands. Anticipating when everything was said and done. It all collided together.

Except this time, there was no more doubt.

No more struggle.

No more what-ifs.

No more lies.

My time had come to make things right. All I ever wanted led up to this point in time. Where nothing else mattered.

But justice.

CHAPTER THIRTY-FOUR

ELIAS

“Maybe the only vow we ever need to offer the one we love is this: I will never, not for a sliver of a second, make you feel alone.” —Tyler Knott Gregson

2 WEEKS AFTER OASIS LAUNCH

“Are you ever going to tell me where we’re going?” she asked, kissing her lips on my plane.

I shook my head, kissing her hand. “You’ll find out soon enough.”

“You never like to answer any of my questions.”

“I have a few of my own.” We were lying on my bed in the back of the plane.

She giggled. “What would you like to know, Mr. Sinclair?”
