She sassed, “What are you even doing in Texas?”

“It’s as much my home as it is yours, beauty.”

“I said stop calling me that.”

“Would you like me to call you a brat because that’s how you’re acting?”

She glared at me again. “Should I call you a conniving asshole since that’s what you are? I can’t believe you dragged me here under false pretenses. Not to mention, you ruined my night with Felix?”

“What was I supposed to do? Let you go home with a man whose intentions were far from admirable?”

“You’re unbelievable.”

“Don’t you mean thank you?”

“Thank you for what? Cockblocking my one-night stand?”

I winced. I couldn’t help it. The thought of her with another man made my blood boil to the point of searing pain.

“Would you have rather thrown up on him instead?”

She instantly turned three shades of red, and I leaned forward, placing my elbows on my desk.

Sighing deeply, she swallowed hard. “I thought that was the sidewalk.”

I grinned. “It’s not the first time I’ve held your hair back. You’re lucky I didn’t teach that son of a bitch some manners.”

“Charming as ever, I see.”

“Good to know I still have an effect on you, beauty.”

She narrowed her glare at me. “I’d love to sit here and process how your delusional mind works, Mr. Sinclair, but I can’t get my head that far up your ass.”

“Is that any way to speak to your boss?”

“You’re not my boss and never will be. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to go back to work.” She stood. “I’m done here.”

“This is far from over. We’ve only just gotten started.”

“I have nothing else to say to you.”

I leaned back in my chair. “Don’t start a war you won’t win, beauty.”

“I’m not working with you, Mr. Sinclair. That’s all I have to say to you.” With that, she abruptly turned around to leave.

She took four steps before I declared, “You walk out that door, and you’re taking your mother’s chance at becoming number one with you.”

She stopped dead in her tracks and turned back to face me again.

“I’m a businessman, Capri. I’ll do whatever it takes to get what I want, and the bottom line is, I want you.”

“You can’t buy me, Mr. Sinclair. I’m not for sale.”

“Everything has a price, so name yours.”

“How about you go to hell?”

“Beauty…”
