“Mr. Sinclair, what is your favorite thing about her?”

“She’s fearless. Nothing could ever stop her from getting what she wanted. She goes after everything she sets her eyes on. Despite the odds being against us, she didn’t care. She’s always seen the best in me. Even when I didn’t. The way she sees the world and her thoughts on love are what make her so special. She’s a hopeless romantic and always has been. My favorite thing about her is that she fights for what she wants.” He affectionately smirked, caressing the side of my face with the back of his fingers. “The truth is I’m madly in love with her.”

“Elias…” I rasped, loud enough for him to hear me.

“Capri Locke, soon-to-be Mrs. Sinclair, has always been my favorite thing to look at.”

Even the fawning over Jenna and the camera crew didn’t steal this moment between us. My heart beat profusely, pounding against my chest.

“Do you guys plan to have kids?”

“Who knows?” He winked at her. “She might be pregnant now.”

I shut my eyes, trying to giggle through the bullshit of the stunts he was pulling.

“That’s going to break the internet, Mr. Sinclair.”

Our eyes connected again as if we were the only two people in the room. There was something about the way he was staring at me.

With so much appreciation.

Value.

Love.

Like I was his most prized possession.

Like I was the only woman he ever wanted.

“One last question,” she informed, nodding to Elias.

“If you could go back to the past, what would you do differently?”

He didn’t hesitate to admit, “I would have never left her for my apprenticeship in London.”

“Are you saying you wouldn’t have worked for Joseph Dupont? He’s the reason you are the man you are today.”

“That’s exactly what I’m saying.”

It’s only for show, Capri. It’s all for show. Nothing more.

I repeated it over and over in my head until we were sitting at that table alone and the Vogue team had long cleared out.

“I can see the wheels spinning in your mind,” Elias called me out, pulling me away from my thoughts. His stare was glued to my face. “You did great today.”

“So did you. It was enough to fool me. You had me going there for?—”

“Nothing I said today was a lie. In fact, I’ve never been more honest in any interview.”

Chills suddenly sparked throughout my skin, causing the hair on my arms to stand straight up.

“Come here, my wife.”

I shook my head. “I’m not your wife.”

He grinned. “Come to me.”

Still, I shook my head. I couldn’t move, cemented to the leather seat beneath me.
