Was back on my thigh.

I couldn’t believe what just happened.

For the next hour, I sat there shocked and dismayed, trying to process everything that occurred in such a short amount of time. I couldn’t keep up with the turn of events any longer. Elias’s hand never left my leg. Slowly, he rubbed my bare flesh from the slit in my pencil skirt. Back and forth, he caressed my thigh like he’d done hundreds of times. I told myself I didn’t want to feel his security, but I did.

It helped with the unease rising in my core. Despite being overwhelmed, I relaxed from his touch.

Waiting for my time to come.

Once the meeting was over and the room was clear, I stood. I needed some space, but he was adamant about not allowing me any.

“Beauty—”

“No!” I bit. “You can’t keep doing this to me!”

“And what is that exactly?”

“Whatever the hell that was!”

“That was easy.”

I adamantly shook my head. “What did you make me sign?”

With one big smile, he replied, “Your ex-fiancé’s share in the company.”

I gasped. “What?”

“You heard me.”

“What do you mean his share? How does he?—”

“It’s not technically his; it’s his father’s, but you know… the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.”

“You had no right! He never did anything to you.”

“You’re right. What he did to you was enough. Consider it one of your birthday presents from me.”

One?

“That’s not fair! You can’t just come barging your way into my life and wreak havoc in it.”

“He should teach his son some manners, and then maybe he wouldn’t have to pay for his son’s shitty behavior.”

He stood, and I raised my arms to stop him. Cocking his head to the side in amusement, he stepped forward as I stepped back.

“Let me tell you about what’s going to happen next.”

Two steps forward and back.

“You’re going to thank me.”

Four more strides forward and back.

“Elias…” I shook my head, hanging on by a thread.

“Then you’re going to…”

Several steps forward and back until my body hit the glass window behind me.
