He narrowed his eyes at me. “What do you think?”

“I mean, at this point, I’d say you’ve been stalking me, so yes, you did know.”

“Stalking would mean I wouldn’t have made my presence known, and I did the second you were in danger.”

“I was not in danger.”

“Right,” he sarcastically responded. “Because blackout drunk is playing it safe.”

“I was not blackout drunk.”

“Yet you didn’t know who drove you home.” He didn’t pay me any mind, looking through the documents on this lap.

“Oh, but you also decided to break and enter.”

He lifted an eyebrow, peering up at me through the slits of his eyes. “Is that how you think I tucked you in?”

I shrugged. “Did you sneak me in?”

“No. I walked through your front door.”

“How?”

“With one foot in front of the other.”

“Okay, smart-ass,” I sassed. “You know what I mean.”

“Do you know what you mean?”

“Elias…”

“Capri…”

“How did you get inside if you didn’t knock or break in?”

“I used the key.”

I glanced at him. “What key?”

“The one on your keychain in your purse that night.”

“Oh…” I scratched my head. “That makes sense.”

“Any other interrogations I need to answer?”

“So you were what? Just going to waltz inside and casually nod to my parents if you saw them?”

“It was three in the morning. I hardly doubted I was going to run into your parents.”

I sighed.

“Anything else?”

“Yes, actually, there is. Once you found out about Kyle, did you?—”

“Yes, I did. I figured you’d move back home and start working for your mother again.”

“You planned this? Me being your publicist?”
