Including fucking Kyle!

“Caprisee…”

“I hate it when you call me that!”

He raised his hands out in front of him in a surrendering gesture as if that would save him from my wrath. “Darling…”

“Darling, my ass!”

I could feel tears pooling in my eyes, but I would not cry for this piece of shit. I refused.

“You bastard!” I roared, trying to govern my emotions and keep them in check.

The shame I felt for all the mistakes I made trying to make a life with a man who only wanted to control me, making me dependent on him.

How could I be so dumb?

It was obvious this had always been Kyle’s intention.

Did he think I wouldn’t leave him if I found out he was running around on me? Did he honestly think I’d be that weak?

“Baby, let me explain.” His eyes shifted to Amber before ordering, “Go. Now.”

She didn’t have to be told twice, and by his stern tone, he was used to bossing her around. She never once looked over at me, pretending I wasn’t in the room with them. Although I could sense her embarrassment, something else was in the air that I couldn’t place my finger on.

Unable to resist, I blurted, “You told me you were a girl’s girl, Amber. Is this what you meant by that?”

She finally met my eyes, gazing up at me through her lashes as she covered her body with the dress she’d picked up off the floor.

The second she announced, “It’s not like that. We’re in love,” I realized what the elephant in the room was.

It wasn't that I caught my fiancé cheating on me. It was the fact that I was the other woman in their love affair.

My glare shifted back to Kyle. “Is that true?”

He bowed his head, rubbing the back of his neck. The shame was eating him alive as my future was stripped out from under me.

I snapped, throwing his shirt off the floor at him. “At least have the common decency to cover yourself while you look at your fiancée and tell her you’re in love with another woman, you selfish prick!”

He lifted his pants, buttoning them up before he simply replied, “I’m so sorry, Capri. I never meant to hurt you or lead you on.”

“Really?” I scoffed. “Because it seems like that’s all you’ve been doing. Were you going to tell me? Or were you just going to continue to lie through your vows to me?”

He looked further away, triggering a reaction from me.

Shaking my head, I stepped back. “Wow. When exactly were you going to tell me? Before or after we said ‘I do’?”

“I don’t know…”

I shook my head again. Disgusted was an understatement. It infuriated me how he just looked at me with his pathetic responses.

“You’re nothing but a coward,” I spoke with conviction. “How dare you say that to me? After I gave up everything for you. My career! My family! My friends! You moved me out here for what? To just cheat on me? How long has this been going on, Kyle? I deserve an answer for that at least, don’t I?”

When he didn’t say one word, I looked back at Amber, waiting for her response.

“Capri.” She stressed my name with a strain in her tone as if I was the one hurting her. “I’m so sorr?—”

“How long?” I was hanging on by a thread.
