Sure, Rafe was head over heels in love with Ari, and he was ever so grateful Sharron was out of his life. He wasn’t thanking Bass though. The man had crossed a line that would never be forgiven.

Thanks to Nana Bee, he was now forced to work with Bass. As if that wasn’t bad enough, he was also forced to work alongside Ella Jones, the daughter of the man who’d tried to destroy his family’s company.

“What were you thinking, Nana Bee?” Rafe asked aloud. He’d never get the answer, and Rafe wasn’t a man who liked to go without answers.

He parked his sleek car in the garage and bounded into the house, immediately searching for Ari. When it was too quiet, he tensed. His home was always filled with sound. His three young children made enough noise to wake the dead. He’d grown used to the sound, though, and now it was the quiet that made him uneasy.

When he realized nobody was downstairs, he quickly made his way up the stairs. He rushed to his bedroom and heard noise inside. With his body on high alert, he pushed the door open hard enough to hit the wall.

Ari didn’t flinch from her place in the middle of the bed. The red teddy hugging her beautiful curves took his breath away and instantly made him hard as a rock, all of his troubles fading in a single heartbeat.

“I can’t imagine my life without you,” he huskily whispered.

Her smile turned even brighter. “I love you so much, Rafe Palazzo. I know how stressed you’ve been lately, and I want to help with that.”

Rafe moved toward his wife, not yet touching her. He knew the second he did, he’d lose it. No matter that they’d been together for years, he still wanted her like they’d just met the day before. She waseverythingto him.

“I’m sorry I’ve been a jerk lately,” he told her as he sat on the bed. He then realized the quiet again. “Where are the children?”

She laughed. “I wondered how long that would take you. The house is too quiet,” she said with a chuckle. “Your amazing sister took them for an overnighter with their cousins. We are trading next week and taking her kids.”

“We have a night alone?” he asked, growing more excited.

“Yes, we do, and before you grab me,talkto me,” she insisted as she scooted a few inches away and laughed some more. The sound of her happiness warmed his heart. She made him sappy . . . and he couldn’t care less. He thought about how horrible he’d been to her in the beginning and it made him angry with himself. She was the best thing that had ever happened to him. He would never forgot that.

“It’s hard seeing Bass again,” he said, instantly tensing as he said the man’s name.

“He swears he’s innocent,” Ari said.

Rafe fought back the vulgarity about to pass through his lips. “I saw them together with my own eyes. It’s not about Sharron. I couldn’t care less about her; it’s that one of the people I trusted more than anyone else betrayed me. I would’ve died for that man.”

Ari moved to him and wrapped her arms around him from behind. He could feel the soft press of her breasts against his back and he didn’t want to talk anymore, but she just held him while resting her chin on his shoulder, not allowing him to turn around. Of course he could flip around and pin her, but she was begging him to talk to her, and he wanted to give her anything she desired, even if it ripped him apart.

“Sometimes there’s more to a story than we realize. You’ve never allowed him to explain. This might be the perfect opportunity to do that,” she suggested before she kissed the side of his neck. If she was trying to distract him while asking him to do something he didn’t want to do, she was doing a damn fine job of it.

“I don’t know if I can talk to him,” Rafe admitted. There were very few people who could make him feel weak . . . his wife was one of them though. He loved her enough to be his true self at all times with her. He trusted her. There’d been a time he hadn’t thought he’d ever trust anyone again . . . until Ari.

“Rafe, you’re the strongest, smartest, most beautiful, kind, compassionate person I know. You can do anything. I’m not telling you to make the decision overnight, I’m only asking you to think about it. Obviously, Nana Bee wanted you to talk to Bass. That means something. Give it some real thought,” she suggested. She then reached around him and began undoing his shirt buttons. His brain turned to mush.

He tensed until she got to the bottom of his shirt and splayed her hands on his hot skin. He knew talking was over. With lightning-fast movement, he turned around, knocking her backward on the mattress. She looked at him wide-eyed, laughter spilling from her pretty pink lips.

“I’ll think on it,” he growled before he pounced. He lined his body over hers and found her lips. They had no children at home, and he was going to take advantage of such a rare night alone with the woman he loved. Lovemaking with his wife was always wonderful, hot, sexy, and fulfilling. He’d never get enough.

Rafe kissed her until both of their heads were spinning. He only released her lips when neither of them could breathe anymore. He trailed his lips across her jaw, then swept his tongue down her throat, her moan vibrating beneath his touch.

He pulled back to admire the sexy red nighty she wore before his teeth untied the ribbon barely holding her breasts inside the lacy contraption. The ribbon let go and her full, achingly gorgeous breasts spilled free. He cupped them in his hands, squeezing and pushing them together before leaning in and taking one nipple into his hot mouth, sucking hard until she moaned in delight. He worshipped her breasts for several minutes before trailing his tongue down her smooth stomach. Three babies, and she was more beautiful than the first time he’d touched her. He was in awe of the woman he’d vowed to cherish for the rest of his life.

Rafe pushed his wife’s legs apart and took a moment to admire the beauty of her sleek folds before he leaned in and ran his tongue along her most sensitive place. Her back arched off of the bed as she screamed in pleasure. He sucked her clit while dancing his tongue over her nub again and again. He pushed his fingers inside her just in time to feel her body clench him as an orgasm rang through her. He slowed the pressure of his tongue, drawing out her orgasm for as long as he could.

When the last of her shudders calmed, Rafe pushed himself from the bed and undid the cuffs on his shirt before tossing the restricting material to the floor. Ari’s eyes were slits, but her gaze locked in on him as he removed the rest of his clothes.

“Beautiful, Rafe, you are so damn beautiful it hurts,” she said, her voice husky and raw.

“Oh, my darling wife, I don’t hold a candle to you,” he said as he crawled back onto the bed, moving over Ari’s stunning body.

“We can argue about that later. Right now I want you inside me,” she said, winding her arms around his neck and pulling his mouth to hers.

“I love you,” he whispered before kissing her with the softness only she could bring out in him.
