He fondled her breasts while kissing and licking the back of her neck, sucking, biting, bruising with his mouth and fingers. It still wasn’t enough. She was growing needier and needier by the millisecond. It was never enough when it came to him.

He kept kneading one breast while he reached down and snagged her panties. With one hand he snapped the small band at the side of her panties and they fell away.

“Please, Bass,” she begged when he still didn’t touch her where she needed him most.

He bent down and sucked on her neck and finally she felt his tip at her entrance. One hand was still on her breast, and he squeezed tight while the other gripped her hip. She pushed back against him, but there was no doubt who was in control of their lovemaking. It was him and him alone.

Without further hesitation he thrust forward and plunged deep inside of her as she screamed in pleasure. His other hand left her breast and grabbed her other hip. He pulled back and the window shook as he surged forward again, hitting her harder with his second thrust.

“More,” she cried out. This was what she’d been begging for. This was what she’d needed, but it wasn’t enough, it would never be enough. She wanted to be fully consumed by the man, inside and out.

He didn’t speak; he simply began moving. He thrust in and out of her, unrelenting. He went hard and picked up speed, hitting his hips against her ass over and over again as he plunged deep within her aching body. Everything ached, all of the sensations more intense. Her eyes were closed, but she saw flashes of light behind the lids as her pleasure climbed and climbed. Still, it wasn’t enough.

And then it was . . . the release rocketed through her in a blissful explosion. Stars shot across her eyes and her body went boneless as she sagged against the window, shaking and panting as the orgasm rolled on and on, gripping him so tight he couldn’t thrust inside her anymore. He screamed with his own release as thick, hot torrents of his pleasure shot inside her. He remained pressed against her, his hand on her stomach as he held her up.

They both slid to the floor, but he didn’t let her go, just wrapped his arms around her and held on as she shook in his arms. It was too much. It was always too much with him. What he ripped out of her was her entire soul. There was nothing she could do to stop it, there was nothing shewantedto do to stop it. She was falling in love with him. That’s why the lovemaking was so intense.

Yes, it was pleasure, but it was so much more than that. Two souls united, two becoming one. She’d heard that term before, but she hadn’t understood it until being with him. She wanted to run. The emotion was too strong between them. She had nowhere to go. She couldn’t outrun this feeling. She was falling in love with him and he owned her. She could never tell him.

It took a while, but he finally found an ounce of strength. He rose, then lifted her up and carried her to the bathroom. They took a quick shower; her entire body was sore. That might’ve been the best lovemaking they’d shared yet, and that was saying a hell of a lot because it was always good.

After drying off, Bass carried her into bed and pulled her right into his arms. They were both exhausted.

“Maybe it’s time to get out of this hotel and find a real place,” he said, his hand tracing up and down her spine.

She didn’t stiffen, didn’t let him know his words were flowing through her. He’d said get his own place. He wasn’t offering a place with her. What would she say if he did? Everything within her was screaming that’s what she wanted, but they were so new and their relationship was built on lust. They needed to have more, didn’t they?

She wasn’t going to figure it out that night. She closed her eyes and drifted off to sleep. There was nothing else she could do right then. There was time. There was plenty of time, she assured herself. She finally let herself rest.

She realized before she fell into a deep sleep that if he asked, she’d say yes. She was a fool to think otherwise. She was falling in love with him, and it might be foolish, but there was nothing she could do about it other than follow along. What will be will be. It was up to fate now.

Chapter Twenty-One

Ella

Ella was living in an alternate reality. That was the only explanation. She was happy, happier than she’d ever been. She hadn’t agreed to move in with Bass, but she stayed with him so much she might as well be living with him. There was pride in having her own place and taking care of herself though. She was reluctant to give it up. She realized she could for Bass though.

She shook her head as she pushed that thought from her head. It was too soon to think that. She needed to remember they were just having fun. It would only lead to heartbreak to think of it as more than that.

He was out of the hotel. When the man wanted something he got it, and he got it fast. The day after he’d spoken about buying a home, he’d looked and found a place, putting an all cash offer on it . . . and they’d accepted. He promised them a hundred-thousand-dollar bonus if they could be out in a week. They’d scrambled.

It was a beautiful place overlooking the Bay. Huge. She didn’t understand what that meant. When a person had as much money as Bass did, buying a home was like a normal person buying a value meal at Burger King. He still had a home in Washington. He’d gone back a couple of times in the past two months. He invited her each time and she made excuses not to go.

She wasn’t sure why she wouldn’t go with him. There was nothing holding her back in California. She was in love with Bass, but she still held back. Why? Because she was used to things falling apart on her. She was afraid to be fully in. If she was, the pain it would cause when it was over would be too much to bear. That might be one failure she couldn’t pick herself up from. She wasn’t willing to gamble with that.

Fortunately she’d been able to witness Bass, Rafe, and Shane all coming back together. It was Nana Bee’s greatest wish to have them be close again. Rafe and Shane had never parted ways, but it had hurt Nana Bee’s heart to see Bass on the outside of the once unbreakable circle. They were together again and that was more important than anything else. She could walk away from the entire situation with a clear conscience, knowing she’d fulfilled her portion of Nana Bee’s final wishes.

She was currently at Nana Bee’s property. They were nearly finished. The ranch would be opening soon. The design they’d come up with together was beautiful, and she spent most of her days helping wherever she could. She’d been involved from conception to completion. She was happy with how much time Rafe and Bass had spent there as well. At first they’d been there because they’d been ordered by the will and testament to do it. Now they were there because they were just as excited as she was to see it finished.

Who would run it? She wasn’t sure, but both Bass and Rafe were renowned business owners and she was sure every I would be dotted, and every T would be crossed. She had zero worries about how it would operate.

She’d soon be free from all of her obligations. That was the one thing in life she was the most sure of. Since her lunch with her father she hadn’t seen him. She hadn’t reached out to him, and he’d kept his promise not to reach out to her. She wondered if she had been too hard. Should she give him a break? He was respecting her wishes. It might be nice to reach out and have a meal with him once in a while.

She cringed at the thought. Would she be able to have any kind of a relationship with Bass if her father was around? She didn’t see how that would work. He’d try to tell her it was okay, but the man had caused too much damage to the Palazzo family, and Bass was a part of their family . . . she was not.

“I think the gazebo is my favorite place here,” Lia said as she moved up next to Ella.

“I love it. It looks like something straight out of a rom-com,” Ella said.
