Nick scrubbed a hand over his face, then eased onto the bed beside me and gathered me into his arms.“I’m sorry, little one. What I’m about to tell you cannot leave this room.Understood?”

I nodded and cupped his cheek.“I’m sorry, too, Master.”

Placing his hand over mine, Nick kissed my palm.“Mika has beeninfatuatedwith Emerald since she joined Genesis years ago.For reasons of his own, he never wanted her to see or talk to him.”

”That doesn’t make sense. If he has feelings for her—”

“It’s a long story. Some of it we can share, some of it we can’t.We’ll discuss it when we get back, but right now, Dylan and I need to get over to Mika’s.He’s in bad shape and needs to talk.”

“Okay, but can I at least call Emerald and see how she’s doing?”

“Not yet.Trevor and Drake are with her now. They’ll take good care of her.I promise.”

I opened my mouth to argue, then mulishly pressed my lips together.

“We’re not asking you to ignore your friend,” Dylan murmured, stroking a hand through my hair.“We’re just asking you to wait until we have the details of what happened, and how Mika wants to proceed. We’ll share what we know when we get back home.”

His compassionate tone and gentle touch melted me to the bone.

Without a word, Nick stood and quickly started getting dressed. We’d never fought like that before, and his silence sliced me in two.

In need of space, I climbed out of bed and slid on my robe.I found solace with a cup of coffee in the kitchen until Dylan strolled into the room.

“He’s not mad at you, kitten.”

“Yes, he is,” I said, staring into my mug.

Dylan plucked me from the chair, then sat and settled me onto his lap.Swaddled in warmth and security, I nuzzled my cheek against his chest and breathed in his familiar scent.

“Because you were scared and upset and got a little mouthy, you think what…that he doesn’t want you anymore?”

“No.Yes.I don’t know,” I moaned.

Dylan cupped my cheek and forced my gaze.“I do.The answer isno.If you truly think otherwise, I’m going to turn you over my knee.”

“I know,” I whispered.

“Just because there are three of us in this relationship doesn’t mean we’re not going to disagree or fight like couples. The bottom line is, we’re all human. We’re all upset and worried about what happened to Emerald. And because Nick and I know the whole story, we’re doubly worried about Mika.”

“Is he going to be okay?”

“I think so…eventually. We’ll do all we can to help him…cope. But while we’re gone, I want you to erase, burn, and bury any fear that Nick doesn’t want you.He does.He wants and loves you with every breath in his body, just like me.”

“Oh, little one,” Nick moaned as he entered the kitchen and quickly ate up the distance between us.“Is that what you think, love?”

He knelt beside us and cupped my face. The sorrow in his eyes felt like a sledgehammer to my heart.

“I’m sorry for arguing with you, Master,” I whispered, blinking back my tears.

“Don’t be.You’re as worried as we are.I let my own fears get the best of me.I’m sorry. There’s no way the three of us are going to go through life without making each other mad.But trust me.No fight or disagreement is going to change the way I feel about you.I love you, Savannah, with all my heart. That will never change.Ever.”

His words were a balm of salvation.Relief flooded my veins.

“Oh, Master,” I moaned, launching from Dylan’s lap and into Nick’s arms.

“It’s okay, little one,” he assured, hugging me tightly.

“As long as we’re together, we can weather any storm, kitten,” Dylan said, caressing my back.
