“I’d definitely chase you. It’s one of my favorite things. After all, I’ve been doing it most of my life.” I tug her down and cover her mouth with my own. I groan when she doesn’t hesitate to deepen our kiss. I'm never going to get enough of this woman.

“Hey, Wyatt?” She asks between kisses.

“Yeah?” I groan into her mouth when she trails her fingers down my bare chest.

“I’ll talk to you if things ever become too much. We’ll work through everything together. But I promise you, if you make another big decision because it’s in my best interest without talking to me, I’ll kill you and Macy will happily help me hide your body. Understand?”

“Why am I not surprised it’s Macy?”

“Because she’s crazy.” Charlie laughs.

“Can I tell you something before this goes into effect?” I wince, unsure if she’s going to get upset.

“What?”

“I told your dad we’d happily move to Mulberry Lane and sell this house.”

A slow smile spreads across her lips and she shakes her head. “They’re going to be over all the time.”

“Yup. And I might’ve agreed to our house being directly across the street from both of our parents.” I scrunch up my nose.

“Oh my gosh, Wyatt! We’ll never be alone!” She playfully swats at my chest. “They’ll constantly have their noses in our business!”

“Welcome to Mulberry Lane, sweetheart.”

“It’s the greatest place in the world,” she whispers as she curls into my side.

Chapter 31

Wyatt

One month later

“Hey, Liliana.” I smile and hold out my hand to shake hers. “This is my fiancée, Charlie.”

“Hey! It’s so nice to meet both of you. Thank you so much for letting me interview you. I’m so excited to write about something other than the normal baseball news.” She rolls her eyes, then freezes and slaps a hand over her mouth. “Oh my gosh! That sounded so horrible! I like baseball, love it really, I just like writing about other things too, ya know?”

“You’re fine.” Charlie chuckles. “I’ve lived and breathed baseball most of my life and I feel the same way sometimes.”

Charlie motions for us to go into the living room and Liliana happily takes a seat on one of the chairs. I drape my arm around Charlie’s shoulders as soon as she takes the spot next to me on the couch.

“Ok, good. I can't imagine a baseball player wanting to give an exclusive interview to someone complaining about writing baseball articles.”

“Honestly, I get tired of talking about baseball all the time.” I lift my shoulder in a shrug.

“Speaking of, if you don’t mind, I’d love to just jump in with questions. Is it ok for me to record this so I don’t miss anything?”

“No problem. We’re going to get to read the final article before it gets published though, right?”

“Yes! I promise nothing will be published without you seeing it first.” She tugs a notebook out of her bag and folds back the cover to a fresh page.

“Ok. Then go ahead.” Charlie settles back onto the couch and gets comfortable.

“Is it easier having a fiancée who works in the field or does it get boring? Sorry, Charlie, most of these questions will be focused more on Wyatt.” She frowns down at her notes. “I probably should’ve thought that through a little more.”

“It’s ok. I'm happy to be in the background.” She smiles.

“I like having Charlie work with me. Not only do I get to see her all day long, but she also understands my job more than most would. She knows the ins and outs of everything in the baseball world. And most importantly, she’ll get to go with us on away games.” I grin down at my girl.
