“I take it that means you never sent a dick pic.”

“No, I have absolutely never sent a dick pic.”

“Have you taken a pic?”

“Why would I do that?”

I shrugged.

He narrowed his eyes at me. “Have you taken pics?”

I shook my head. “No. Euw. If I wanted you to have it, you’d see it live and in person.”

He smiled lazily, it was a sexy AF smile, because I wanted him to have it, so he saw it live and in person, and then he drank more coffee.

“I need you to put your thinking cap on,” I told him.

His gaze slid sideways to mine. “Why?”

“Because I’m thinking candles and incense and maybe some chanting.”

His “What?” shook with laughter.

“The ceremony we’re gonna perform while we take down my wall.”

He turned and wrapped his arm around my lap, performing a minor miracle by holding up his weight in his other elbow all the while keeping his coffee safe, before he said, “Babe, call Luna and the girls to do that with you. Proud of you. You got great instincts. You got the job done. Those women are safe. They got a bitch of a road to travel to work through what they were put through. But it’s better than where they were. But I’m out on any of your ceremonies. Especially if they involve incense.”

Since I liked to burn incense occasionally, this was concerning.

I didn’t get into that.

“You’re proud of me?”

“Well…yeah.”

I could see it then, in his gorgeous face.

He was.

I curved my back to kiss him.

When I lifted up, I said softly, “That means a lot to me, Julien.”

“I can tell, Rachel.”

I used my free hand to smooth his hair back.

It fell over his forehead again.

I gave up and drank some more coffee.

After I swallowed, I noted, “I didn’t see Sergio Duzek or Cyrus Gibbons at the warehouse last night.”

“That’s because that mess was their brainchild, and the big dicks have flunkies who do the dirty work. It keeps their hands clean.”

The buzz went off my morning.

“So they got away.”
