“So you don’t die,” he says, exasperated with me.

I wince. “Why would I die?”

The pain in my ass leaves the cabin without answering me.

This is my time to run.

Just as I start to jump up, a man I didn’t notice in the corner takes two swift strides forward and stops me. He crosses his arms, his face full of threats as he silently tells me to sit my ass back down. I cross my arms, mirroring him, and he nudges my shoulder back. His push isn’t as hard as Antonio’s, but I still end up with my ass back on the cushions.

I could attempt to crawl over the couch and run.

Where would I run to though?

I have no idea where I am, no phone, and Antonio would probably catch me outside.

I just need to wait it out until my father finds me.

He found Natalia, another victim of Lombardi’s sticky fingers with people, within a day. No doubt he’ll do the same with me.

My attention snaps to the doorway when Antonio returns. As he drags him inside, Elijah grunts, his ankles and wrists bound. He wobbles while Antonio leads him around the couch. Antonio pushes Elijah to his knees in front of me before releasing him.

I throw my arm out toward Elijah, who’s staring at me in desperation. “How does kidnapping him protect me?”

It’s fucking nonsense. I might’ve fallen for Antonio’s games enough to allow his manipulative fingers inside my vagina, but that easy Gigi is gone. No more will I believe in his scheming ways.

Antonio doesn’t reply, like the little snake he is. No wonder that’s his pet of choice.

Elijah’s head snaps in Antonio’s direction, and he snarls, “I’m going to kill you, Lombardi.”

Antonio chuckles at the threat.

He and Elijah are both killers.

I have a feeling Antonio is better at it though.

“Here’s yourfiancé, princess.” Antonio’s lip curls in disgust at the last word, as if he swallowed poison.

He withdraws his gun from his blazer and presses it against Elijah’s head. The satisfaction on his face is seriously demented. I move forward, but Corner Man appears behind me and does the same to my head. The barrel of the gun is so cold that I feel it through my hair. Antonio casts him an unreadable look, and the man nods since they apparently have their own language.

The man retreats a step and switches spots with Antonio.

Now, Antonio’s gun is against my head.

Corner Man crams the gun barrel into Elijah’s skull like it’s a cork he’s unscrewing. Elijah clenches his hands and attempts to pull away, but can’t.

“Now, Elijah,” Antonio says calmly, “let’s play a game.”

I turn my head, causing the gun to slightly slip away from my head. “Who do you think you are now? Jigsaw?”

Antonio plunges his free hand into my hair, grabbing a fistful, and jerks my head to the side. He presses the gun to my neck, placing pressure on my vocal cords as if he wants to crush them so I’ll shut the fuck up.

“Quit playing games, Lombardi,” Elijah spits.

Antonio smiles cruelly. “You want me to let you go?”

Elijah’s face is red and sweaty. “Don’t waste my time asking stupid questions.”

“If I let you go, then I kill Gigi.”
