“And …” I’m afraid to ask because the answer terrifies me. “You’ll be there?”

That sour expression relaxes. “I’d never miss anything so special.”

Luca’s Suburban is in the driveway when we return from lunch.

My head feels dizzy.

What is life right now?

It’s like I’m in some new world where the Marchettis don’t want to kill the Lombardis.

Luca steps out of the SUV and gives me a tight hug. “I’ve missed you, troublemaker.”

I smile while pressed to his chest. “Did you come here to hang out with Antonio?”

“Fuck no.” He waits until I pull away from him to glance at my father. “Natalia and Enzo are inside.”

A sudden adrenaline rush zips through me like I chugged fifteen energy drinks.

“Luca is driving me. Bruno will stay with Natalia and Enzo until they’re ready to go,” my father tells me before brushing a kiss along my forehead. “The wedding planner will contact you tomorrow.”

Bruno follows me into the house, where we find them in the living room with Amara and Clara.

“Gigi!” Amara says, grinning from ear to ear when she notices me.

We’ve developed a close relationship these past few weeks. Every morning, we have breakfast together, and I usually spend the rest of the day with her either watching movies or doing crafts, and I help Clara with her homeschooling.

Natalia gives me a side-hug while holding Enzo, and when I extend my arms out, she passes him to me.

“Oh man, you’ve gained some weight, you little chunky boy,” I say, cradling him while moving to the couch and sitting. “He looks so much like my father.”

Natalia works out a tangle in her thick hair, compliments of Enzo’s curious fingers. “A spitting image of him and Benny.”

“I’ve missed you.” I tenderly play with his hand and glance at Natalia when she makes herself comfortable next to me. “Did you know about my father’s plan today?”

“At first, no. But he stopped me before we left and told me everything.” Her voice softens. “He’s coming around, Gigi.”

I draw a deep breath.

It’s like I woke up today and I’m getting all I’ve ever wanted. Salty tears hit my lip, and I sniffle.

“Do you know what changed his mind?” I smile when Enzo coos.

“Antonio visited him at the mansion last week.”

“He did what?”

“I have no idea what was said, but whatever it was, it changed Cristian’s mind.”

My smile grows.

“I love seeing you in love.” Natalia’s voice is consumed with emotion. “You deserve it so much.”

She’s also come around with Antonio.

Neomi has, little by little. It’s just taking her a while to process since she was shot.

I rest my hand on her shoulder. Bruno stands against the wall, rigid like a board, as if on full duty. Clara occupies Damien’s usual chair, casting suspicious glances at Bruno.
