“Oh, Mac. I’m sorry. I only had one baby in there and was so bloody uncomfortable, so I can only imagine how you are,” Mia responds.

“The doctor is thinking about inducing her labour in a few days, so hopefully it won’t be too much longer now,” Finn adds helpfully. Though the way McKenna glares at him suggests it wasn’t quite as helpful as he thought.

“Oh, I’m sorry. Is this pregnancy taking too long for you?” she asks sarcastically, and his eyes widen comically.

“I just meant it would be good for you to be induced.” The words tumble out of my brother’s lips, and I have to cough to cover the laugh at his hilarious expression.

“Something funny, Evan?” McKenna asks, glaring at me.

Fuck, I’ve angered it!

I sit there frozen, as McKenna glares at me in a way that reminds me just how fucking dangerous pregnant women can be. “No. I was just saying it will be good to meet the girls after all this time.” I give her a smile, and hope like hell I haven’t said anything to anger the beast further.

Mac lets out a huff, but a small smile spreads across her lips as she cradles her bump. “It will be good to finally meet them,” she replies in a soft voice.

I can tell by the way Finn’s eyes grow wide, he can’t keep up with the fucking mood swings, either. She’s giving me whiplash, and I don’t live with her. I suddenly have new a respect for my brothers who have gone through this.

“Since we’re all here, I think now would be a good time to tell you our news,” Kian says as he looks over at Freya.

Before he can continue, I can’t help the words that tumble out of my mouth. “So help me God, Kian. If you’ve knocked up my little sister, I will cut off your bollocks.”

“Language,” both Belle and Mia snap at me with a glare, looking over at where Esme is sitting with Hallie.

Esme doesn’t say a word, but the little devil in her high chair looks over at me with a smirk that looks too much like my own. “Unca Ev, naughty. He say bollocks,” Hallie says, and my heart sinks.

Although I can hear some people laughing, most are shouting at me for teaching Hallie a new swear word. I mean, I’m not the only one with a foul mouth. There’s as much chance she learnt the word from her dad. It’s just unfortunate she said it right after I did.

Freya takes pity on the way the girls are looking at me, like they want to kill me, and she pulls the conversation back her way. “When you’ve finished lynching Evan, would you like to hear our news?”

“Of course,” Bree replies, glaring at everyone in a way that tells us we need to shut the hell up and let her speak.

“We’re getting married,” Freya announces excitedly, as she holds out her left hand to show everyone the large diamond engagement ring that sits on her third finger.

Kian, looking as smug as ever, adds, “I asked her to marry me, and she said yes.”

Once again, loud cheers and congratulations erupt throughout the room. Mum stands up and runs around the table to pull Freya into a hug, tears of joy streaming down her face. While Kian is patted on the back, and the girls tell him he did a great job with the ring.

“He actually asked my permission first, too,” Father adds, shocking everyone.

Kian shrugs his shoulders, like it's nothing. “What? It’s a tradition,” he snaps.

“I feel like we need to give you a lecture about hurting our sister,” I add, looking over at Liam, who has the same glare.

“Your sister can take care of herself,” Bree adds, as Freya nods in agreement.

“Ohhh. Please say I can be in charge of planning the hen party, like I was for Bree,” Ryleigh asks loudly, and everyone groans, including Bree.

Freya looks startled, like she’s not quite sure what to say. Given the matching looks everyone seems to have, I think I may have missed a bullet by not attending Bree and Liam’s joint hen and stag party, that Ryleigh organised, with Kian reining her in.

“Erm, maybe? We can talk about it nearer the time,” Freya replies, somewhat noncommittally.

“At least tell me I can be a bridesmaid,” my little sister adds, glaring at Freya in such a way that she’d be a fucking idiot to say anything except yes.

“Of course you can,” Freya adds, and Ryleigh cheers loudly.

I look over at Shane, and he’s smiling at my overenthusiastic baby sister in such a way that makes me consider getting his brain scanned. “How the hell do you put up with her?” I whisper to him, low enough that Ry doesn’t hear.

“What can I say? I love her,” he replies with a smile.
