“Or how about the choice to have your office overlook the field, huh? Do you think that was a coincidence? Or the way Iturned down so many of your ideas, time after time? It was all on purpose. I needed reasons, Delaney. Reasons.”

Her voice is soft when she speaks. “Reasons for what?”

I rest a finger under her chin and gently tilt her head up to look at me, my eyes grazing over her lips for a brief moment. “Reasons to rationalize why I couldn’t fall anymore in love with you.”

She nervously pauses, still holding her arms across her chest, refusing to give me anything. “And did you find any?”

“Not a damn one.”

For a split second, I see a hint of my Delaney. My heart. Mysunshine. She’s in there. She’s coming back to me, and I refuse to stop now.

“But I continued fighting it. I had to. I needed to find a reason, an easy excuse, but then…London happened. And after that, I knew the fight was over.”

I confidently run both of my hands alongside her face, leaning in ever so slightly. I wish I could kiss her. I want it more than anything.

“I didn’t think it was possible to fall more in love with the city until I fell in love with you in it.”

I let my eyes linger on her lips for a moment longer before reluctantly pulling back. I have to. I need to look her right in the eyes as I tell her the rest of what’s on my chest.

“So, you can be mad at me, Delaney. Hell, I deserve it. I was a complete twat. But you need to know one thing to be true. You weren’t the only one who found a piece of themselves in Crawley. Because Crawley…led me to you. So, I found a piece of myself, too.” I let out a shaky breath. I hadn’t realized my hands were quivering ever so slightly as they brush over her skin.

“And now that you’re gone, it’s not the same. So, no, I didn’t just come here to tell you I love you. I came here to ask you to come back with me. All those things you said made Crawleyspecial in your letter, well, they’re not special without you. You are the magic. You areourmissing piece, Delaney. I couldn’t care less about your offer. All I care about is what your answer is to mine.”

I pause.

“Come back with me, baby. Not just for me…but for the team. We need you. We miss you. We love?—”

Delaney is quick to launch herself forward, wrapping her arms around my neck and planting her lips against mine. And just like that, I’m convinced there's no greater feeling than the one I feel right now.

The feeling of having her back in my arms.

I instantly embrace her kiss, wrapping my arms around her waist and pulling her in as close as possible.

“And I thought you were terrible at apologies,” she whispers into the kiss. There’s an abundantly devious yet irresistible smirk on her face as she pulls back and rests her nose against mine. “I guess I was wrong.”

“Wait.” I break away from her despite how much it’s killing me. “There’s more.”

She shoots me a playful look of impatience. “What more do you have to say, Warren?” That sparkle in her eye just about makes me melt. “Haven’t you said it all?”

I flash her a faint smile, toying with my back pocket. “It’s not what I have to say…” I reach for the items that I’ve kept safely in my possession since I left Crawley. “It’s what I have to give you.”

Reaching for her wrist and bringing it up to my chest, I reveal the “I love London” bracelet from my pocket—the one that matches the bracelet on my own wrist as I pull up my sleeves to reveal it.

Her mouth drops, before her eyes shoot up and find clarity in mine. “You…”

“Can I?” I don’t allow her to finish, gesturing to slip it over her wrist.

She bites down on her lower lip, suppressing a smile before nodding and holding her hand out to me.

Now, I’m the one placing this rubber bracelet onto her dainty wrist, bringing her hand up my lips the second it’s secure in place.

“Promise me we’ll never take them off again?” She grins softly before pulling me in tight.

“I promise, sunshine.” I plant a kiss on the side of her head before wrapping my own arms around her again.

And just like that, we fall right back into where we left off. Kissing on the sidewalks. Entangled in each other’s arms. Happy.

In love.
