“You have me, angel.”

Our lips crash together, and I don’t care who sees.

We don’t make it to the cabin. The moment my lips touch Mia’s, something else takes over. The hungry beast she stirred inside me. Starved for Mia, I savor every inch of her mouth with my tongue, sweeping across her lips, tongue, and fucking teeth.

There’s nothing sweeter than Mia’s taste. And hearing her moan against my lips is driving me fucking insane. I need her. Right fucking now.

“Inn. Room. Now,” I growl, hooking my arm around her as I snatch her suitcase and whisk her away toward the Inn. I don’t see anything but the few feet in front of me as my vision tunnels.

Mia rattles off a number, and I hasten my pace. I have the urge to sling her over my shoulder and sprint to the room but I swallow the urge as the cold air hits my face. I know I should calm down, but I can’t stop myself. Mia’s set off a chain reaction inside me. Chemical. Uncontrollable.

As we approach the stairs, I end up throwing her over my shoulders anyway. I hear a gasp behind me and a man’s voice asking someone if he should step in and do something.

Not if he knows what’s good for him. I turn around and see an older couple, clearly on vacation.

“You could do that to me, Hank,” the woman says.

I grunt, turning around and taking the stairs two at a time as Mia remains silent. When I finally set her down in front of her room, she leans back against the door as she pants, cheeks flushed.

Fuck. Did I scare her? Tearing through the Inn like a beast.

“Mia, what’s wrong?” I ask, reaching for her.

It takes far too long for her to answer. Shallow breath after shallow breath. It feels like each second that passes shreds another part of me until I finally see that smile.

“Nothing,” she says, finally. “I don’t know how to react. I’ve never been manhandled like that before.”

“Would you like that?” I ask, brushing her lips with my thumb.

“Mmmhmm,” she hums.

She holds a keycard in front of her, but rather than take it, I grab her wrist and pin it above her head. “I don’t need a key to open this door,” I growl, sinking my teeth gently into her shoulder and then kissing a line up her neck. “One swift kick and I’ll take it off the hinges.”

God, she smells so good. It’s driving me insane. I’m hanging on by a thread.

“As much as I’d like to see that,” Mia says, kissing my wrist. “I want to have you all to myself and not put on a show for whoever happens to walk by.”

I strangle a low growl in my chest. “Point taken.”

I take the key, unlock the door, and then throw her over my shoulder again, kicking the door shut behind me.

“Jesus,” I mutter, glancing at the hoard of belongings spilling into the room.

“It’s not easy to fit a life inside a hotel room.”

“How about a farmhouse?” I rasp, setting her down on the bed.

Mia opens her mouth, closing it a few seconds later as she dissects my words. There’s nothing to dissect. There’s no hidden message. I’m as clear and straightforward as I can be right now. But if she needs more…

“I want you near me, Mia. I need you near me. Every time you leave, a part of me leaves with you, and I’m only whole when you return. I lived far too long unaware of how special you are. How perfect you are.”

The bed creaks as I kneel on top of it, Mia edging backward as I move forward. There’s a mixture of expressions on her face that I can’t place. Fear? Disappointment? Desire?

“I’m not perfect,” she says. “No one is.”

I grab her by her ankles, and then slip off her sandals, tossing them aside before sliding my hands over her silky legs.

“Then you’re as close to perfect as anyone can be, angel. And I can’t live any longer without you in my home. In my life.”
