Page 19 of Beyond Expectations

Why didn’t she attend the meeting, agree to go for a drink, and finally give herself to me?

She’d been driving me crazy for days, and now she expected me to endure this torture even further?

Well, she had another thing coming.

I concluded the meeting on a high note and praised the team’s work.

With a newly lit fire burning, I motioned for Charlotte to follow me into my office.

It only took a few strides before I was at my desk and grabbing my briefcase when Charlotte entered.

“What can I do for you, Mr. Chambers?”

“I need you to clear the rest of my afternoon as I have some urgent business to address. Call Russell to bring the car round, and if anything requires my urgent attention, send it to me.”

I didn’t even wait for her to respond before I was headed to the bank of elevators, desperate to get out of the damn building and speak with Serena.

At the lobby, I saw, to my delight, Russell already waiting at the curb.

“I need to go to the office of Parker & Associates,” I told him.

“Right away, sir.”

Russell pulled the car into the flow of Manhattan’s traffic.

Despite hoping otherwise, my frustration had quadrupled since I stepped into the conference room and realized Serena hadn’t come.

It only took us about fifteen minutes, considering Midtown traffic at that time was quite impressive when Russell pulled the car over. Exasperated with how the entire day had panned out, I climbed out of the vehicle.

“I’m not sure how long this will take, so I’ll call once I’m done,” I clarified.

Russell gave a curt nod and got back into the car.

I straightened my suit and took a few deep breaths to regain my composure, then I entered her office block.

After being directed to the correct floor, I was greeted by the receptionist.

“How can I help you, sir?”

“I’m looking for Ms Parker. She is currently working with me and could not attend our meeting this morning. An important matter has come up, it’s very time-sensitive and needs her urgent attention.”

“What is your name?”

“Rhett Chambers.”

“She’s currently in a meeting, but if I take you to her office, you can sit there, and I’ll pass on the message that you’re here on an urgent matter.”

“Thank you. That would be great.”

She swiftly led me through the small but quaint office of Parker & Associates.

Pleasure ran through me as we walked past the conference room, and I saw her.

She wore a camel-colored pencil skirt, which fit her hips and ass perfectly. A three-quarter sleeve coral blouse set off her caramel skin in the most intoxicating way.

Her hair fell in loose waves down her shoulders.

As she bent over to pick up a file off the desk, my mind raced with other things she could do in that position.
