Would I move in here? Or would he move in with me?

I thought he’d have to move in with me. I did have two-bedroom apartment, so I had more space, and if we had any children, they would require more space. I wasn’t going to jump to any conclusions. I wanted us to date and when we were both ready, we’d talk about kids and moving. But right then I was getting ahead of myself.

I finished my water and grabbed another one.

Where was he? I pulled my phone out of my handbag and called him, it went straight to voice mail. I texted him. Hopefully he was just in a meeting and would check his phone soon.

Two hours later he still wasn’t home and I was started to panic. I could feel my heart race. He never called me back, nor did he text me. I knew I had no right to be worried about him, but he was still my best friend. He wouldn’t not talk to me.

I stood up from the couch, thinking maybe I would go to his work, make sure he was okay and surprise him that way.

I grabbed my handbag and flung it over my shoulder and made my way to the front door. I heard noises coming from the other side. Him. And a woman. I opened the door and came face-to-face with Lauren.
