“Yes,” Sofia says, then steps aside, and I see another woman. “This is yet another Vietti wife. Isabella, this is Lisa.”
“Wow, I can’t believe how large this family is.” I shake Isabella’s hand as she extends it. “It’s so nice to meet you.”
She lets my hand go and jerks her thumb back, gesturing to a tall, good-looking man behind her. “This is Carlo, my husband, and your husband’s cousin.”
I wave at him. “It’s good to meet you, Carlo.”
He waves before joining the other men in our group. The rest of the women join me and the three others. “Looks like our group is growing,” I say. “I assume you all know each other already.”
They all kiss and hug each other, then tell me that they have indeed met before. I stand back and watch all the camaraderie they have going on, and I’m happy to be a part of this group.
Once again, I’m reminded that I have been forced to be here, to be in this family, but I can’t feel an ounce of anger about it.
I have never been part of a large family. I never knew how amazing it would feel to belong to a family this big.
Looking at Frank, I find him looking back at me, and his little smile makes my heart skip a beat. I smile back at him and hope this lasts forever.
The first firework goes off, and all heads turn skyward. One after another fill the sky with sparks of glittering light. Then I feel a hand slip into mine and see that my husband has come to stand next to me, his eyes on the sky.
“It really is beautiful,” he says quietly.
The fireworks light him up and make him look like someone who has fallen straight out of Heaven.
“You certainly are,” I say.
He looks at me with a wry smile. “What?”
Clasping my hand around his arm, I lean into him, wanting to be as close to him as I can possibly get. “You are a beautiful man, Frank Vietti.”
“No one has ever said those words to me before.” His lips barely touch mine, and I fall head over heels for him in a way I had no idea I could.
This has to be love!
Chapter 14
Frank
Back at the hotel, I still can’t relax as Enzo called a meeting in his room. “I’ve gotta go, baby.” I’d just taken off my shoes when the text came in, and I had to put them back on.
Lisa comes out of the bathroom wearing nothing but her bra and panties. “What? I was just about to give you a massage.”
“My brother wants to talk to us. I’ll be back soon. I hope.” I can’t imagine my brother calling us in for a meeting if it wasn’t something pretty important.
“Aww, man.” Her lower lip juts out as she pouts. “I was looking forward to running my hands all over your naked body.”
“Yeah, I was looking forward to that too. Go take a shower and get all that makeup off your naturally gorgeous face, and as soon as I get back, you and I will meet in that big bed over there and love the night away.”
Her eyes light up, and she runs to me, throwing her arms around me. “I’ll be waiting for you right there.” Kissing me softly, she gives me a hint of what’s to come later.
I don’t want to let her go. I want to strip off my clothes and join her in the shower. But work calls, and no one leaves Enzo Vietti waiting and lives to tell about it.
“See you soon, baby.” Pulling out of her tight embrace, I laugh as I leave the hotel room.
It’s not lost on me that things could have gone really bad for us. She could have been a super bitch to me. After all, I did take everything she had. And I moved into her home, changed everything about it, and completely took over her life.
Still, she took it in stride and never held back her affection for me or her love for our outstanding sex life.
Leo steps in next to me as he comes out of his hotel room. “What do you think the boss has in mind, Frank?”
