“You are a lying bitch!” Melissa screams.

Melody smiles maliciously. I can see the hunger in her eyes. She walks up with a serrated knife and, in one motion, slices Melissa’s throat. Blood shoots out like a geyser.

Rose screams in terror.

“Holy shit.” Mr. Bedford says in dismay.

“That was for my baby, you bitch. It was you in the room with them.” Melody stabs her eyes, and they pop like eggs. Blood is splattering everywhere. She continues to stab her face. Blood continues to squirt for about five minutes.

“Stop her!” her father yells in panic and then tries to grab her, but I’m faster. I shoot him point-blank in the head. He falls over the pew.

I stand. “Touch my wife, and I’ll cut you to pieces.” I glance at Garret. “Get Rose out of here.”

“So how are you, Melody?” Dr. Wick inquires. “How’s school?”

“Three years, and I graduate.”

“Good, and married life?”

“Oh, um, okay, I guess.”

“You know that you are married, right?”

“Of course,” I lie.

She doesn’t know which version of me she is talking to right now.

“Hmm…and your boyfriend?”

I smile. “Valen is great. We’re good?”

“How about your sister, Rose?”

I pinch my brows. “My sister, Rose?”

“Your sister. She attends Kenyan.”

“Rose isn’t my sister. Dr. Wick. I just met her.”

She smiles like she knows something I don’t. Like those pity smiles you give to people who are sick and don’t know they are dying.

“You’re her only sister, Melody.”

“Her sister graduated. My sister’s name is Madison.”

“Yes, but that is not your biological sister, is it?” I look around the room, and it sways. I feel dizzy. The ground rushes to the ceiling, and everything goes black.

I wake up in my Valen’s bed—my bed.

“You’re awake. Are you okay?”

I place my hand over my forehead. “I had this crazy dream. I was in a psychiatrist's office, and her name was Dr. Wick, and she said Rose was my sister.”

He caresses my face and places a soft kiss on my lips. “I love you, Melody.” He places the palm of his hand over my belly.

“I love you, too,” I confess. “I do. I love him.”

He smiles. “I’ve waited a long time for you to say that.”
