“Then you better get going.”

They’re up in a split second, and I’m on to Sam.

“Their old compound. The one you’d found.”

He shakes his head. “That place has been empty for a long time. They moved.”

“I don’t care. Lik, check it. Sam, I want you outside Vue Club.” The club the Wolves own on the South Bank of Silver Falls will surely help at some point. “The second I have a face, you can look for them there. No point in trying to get anyone else to talk. And leave Aaron Williams if you see him. It’ll show our hand too soon, and those puppies would rather die than spill out where their compound is. Most of their soldiers don’t know anyway.”

I look around at who I have left. “Xi.” He separates from Billie, taking a step toward me.

I’m surrounded by people who hate me. I’ve threatened them, the ones they loved. I united the North Shore and forced enemies to work with each other. But Kay has been taken, and the Kings have too much respect and love for her to not try to get her back.

And Emma is dead, so NSC wants their revenge. That means Xi might hate me, but he’s on my side right now.

“What is it?” he asks, voice low. There’s a rasp in it from the sadness that’s attempting to choke him.

“You’ve got dealers in the area Kay was taken. Talk to them.” I don’t wait for his answer. I know he will.

“Any suggestions?” I ask the room.

“Martinez?” Sam suggests. “He didn’t want to talk, but I’m sure we can make him.”

I shake my head. “Martinez is dead.”

My best friend cocks an eyebrow at me.

“I tried to hold back, Sam. I really tried.” The fucker should have talked. I would have let him live.

I scan the room and stop on Kay’s brother. “Caden.”

His eyes shutter over to me like I just woke him up from a dream. I get it. He’s probably the only one who comes near how I feel right now. His eyes look exactly like Kay’s. It’s unsettling.

I look him up and down, catching the sight of Billie’s desolated form, and I deem he’s got enough on his plate.

“Get your shit together,” I simply say. “Your fiancée needs you.” I pause, feeling like I need to say the rest out loud for myself rather than him. “Don’t worry. We’ll find her.”

A snort catches my attention, and I turn toward Nino sitting right next to Logan.

I cock an eyebrow at him. “Problem?”

“Kayla was taken by the Wolves. You’re one hell of a delusional fucker if you think we’ll find her. And if we do, believe me, it’ll be too late to get her back in one piece. It already is.”

A silence falls over the room. Even Billie turns to him.

I slide my hand inside my suit jacket, pull out my gun, and shoot.

The bullet lands in his skull, and he blinks, swaying before falling forward, smashing against my table.

That doesn’t help with the heavy silence.

I turn to everyone else, looking into each of their wide eyes. “Would anyone else like to raise an issue? No one? Good.” I press myself forward, my thighs against the table. “Because they took my fucking wife!” I slam my gun flat on the table as I roar.

It makes them all startle, and I get it because I don’t scream often. It must be a shock to all of them.

“Now if you think I’m not ready to annihilate every single motherfucker who gets in my way of finding her, think again. No one sleeps, no one breathes, until we’ve found her. Get that in your heads.”

I turn to my sister, not containing my threats anymore. “Try Jake again.” My useless brother has been refusing to see me since I’ve gotten out of prison, but he’s not staying out of this one. “Tell him I’ll slit Jamie’s throat if he doesn’t show up.”
