I’m in the middle of finishing up prep for the day and my brain sprints to something I could’ve done to get me kicked off the truck.

“Did I do something wrong?” I ask through the increased speed of my heart rate. “I wasn’t?—”

“All is good,” he claims, giving me an assuring smile and returning his focus back to his meal. “We’ll see you tomorrow.”

I don’t know how else to question why he’s giving me the day off but I amble off the truck in a dazed state. Not sure what the hell just happened when the hairs on my arms rise on end against the warm morning sun.

The beach is slow and I chalk it up as the reason, but it still doesn’t make sense. There’s an event out here today—some volleyball tournament—and Jose has been talking about it nonstop with how much business it’s going to bring in.

Which only leads to this still not making any sense whatsoever.

“You still look absolutely fuckable, Opie. How will I ever get you somewhere quick and private enough just to get my hands on you?”

At the drop of those words, I’m spinning on my heel to find muscles, a black shirt, inked arms all the way down to his wrists, and Hudson Stoll.

My Hudson Stoll.

Through my already surprised state of being dismissed from my shift, I have no words to give Hudson, other than my obvious status of shock and devastation.

I never thought I was going to see him again.

And against the California background, he stands out like a damn outcast which makes it so hard to miss him. Rapture Ink is printed across his chest, his tan skin makes the ink on his arms pop, and those green eyes latch and begin to slowly suck the life out of me as if he has been hunting me all along.

“Did you adopt a staring problem, Opie?” Hudson taunts, his face lifting in silent challenge. “Or are you that fuckin’ happy to see me?”

I don’t know if he believes that I’m not or he’s fucking with me, but he’d have to be a complete dumbass to not know that leaving him behind was one of the hardest things I’ve had to do.

And I’m as equally proud of myself for doing what’s best for me while still holding my damn sanity at my side.

“I’m just eye-fucking the snack,” I manage to get out as I allow my eyes to do just that because I might as well. “We don’t have much of you coming out around here.”

“I noticed.”

I slice my attention back up to him, finding him still staring at me like he’s about to devour me alive. “What brings you to this neck of the woods?”

“Blonde hair,” he surmises simply. “Blue eyes. The tightest pussy I’ve ever gotten the pleasure to be inside and these amazing tits that just…” His green irises fall directly to that part of my body and I can thank Jose for making my work uniform consist of a tank top because it does wonders for the way Hudson’s expression just heated.

“That’s a dime a dozen around here,” I taunt back as I try to stay still. “You came to the right place.”

“I know exactly what I came here for, Opie,” he confirms as he brings his regard back up to me. “Question is…what are you gonna do about it?”

I’m not sure what he’s going to do about it since nothing has changed but his presence with mine but I’m moving forward in a sprint toward him before my brain can make me think better of it.

Leaping trustfully in his arms, Hudson doesn’t let me down when his palms find my ass as my thighs wrap around his waist.

My arms follow around his neck as I peer down at him to immerse every attribute of his handsome face back into memory.

Hudson waits for me, letting me decide where this is going to go and I do what I want to because, who the hell knows when I’m ever gonna get this again?

Even if it means torturing myself for another few weeks.

My lips collide with his and it’s within the second lapse of my mouth that Hudson’s tongue makes entry. He fights to take control and I gladly give it to him. His fingers press into my ass in a silent command to keep kissing him. To give him more of what he’s come for.

But it can’t be just for sex because Hudson can get that every day of the week if he sought after it.

No, this is either a visit, a revelation, or an obsession for one more heated moment that we never got to have without knowing it.

I’m lost in a sea of cedar and leather as I hear Hudson breathing me in through each kiss. The way my body aches for him is almost unbearable with each lick of his tongue to the point where I’m torn right in half on how to permeate this into making sense.
