I have no answers besides his wanting to see me. But it still doesn’t condone the cold reality that waits for us after this.

“Get out of your head,” Hudson chides me as he spreads my ass cheeks under my jean shorts. “You’re thinkin’ too deep into this.”

“You’re not thinking deep enough,” I argue back. “You can’t be here.”

“I can be wherever I want,” he says through another deep and slow kiss that I can feel all the way to my toes. “I know what I want.”

Butterflies flutter in my stomach at those words but they don’t solve our problems.

“You can’t keep wanting me from hundreds of miles away,” I sass back. “It’s too hard. I’m barely holding on without you here.”

“Same,” he agrees which sends some relief through my soul that I’m not alone. “So, that’s why I have a solution to that.”

My head pulls back to catch his expression and the meaning behind his words. He hasn’t mentioned anything about a surprise visit here. Just that he’s been busy with the shop and things around the house. “What are you talking about?”

Hudson doesn’t seem too interested in my question when his full concentration falls on my lips. “I’m not done, Opie. I haven’t finished kissing you properly yet.”

I ignore the way he chases my lips when I pull back a bit. “What did you mean when you said you had a solution? What does that mean?”

“It means kiss me again like a good girl and I’ll tell—” I slap one of his shoulders to get him to focus on the here and now.

However, the way he’s observing me has my skin aflame in remembrance of every dirty thing he’s ever done to me.

“Hudson, I need to know what you meant. You’re here and it makes no sense why or?—”

“I’m here because I love you, Opie.” His green eyes slam into mine and I’m at a loss for words. “And there isn’t any way I’m gonna live states away from you when I feel this way.”

I can’t explain the way I feel other than numb.

I hear every word that comes out of his mouth but they don’t make sense. How could he love me? I know I’m bomb and cool and friendly, but we’re two sides of the spectrum. We’re two different coasts with a lot of land in between us and Hudson has a whole life over there.

“Have lunch with me and I’ll explain everything,” Hudson says through my silence. “Because, obviously, you’re doing that thing again where you’re questioning every line of what I just said.”

“I am,” I blurt out, almost sorry I did but happy I didn’t. “What you said has so many factors playing in it.”

“I’m fully aware of that,” he says. “But I’m pretty set on the outcome.”

“You…just said?—”

“I know what I said, Opie. Dissect that while you tell me where the best place is to eat.”

Right.

After I have six anxiety attacks on how all this is going to play out when I’ve been trying to settle into my new life without you.

Liv took us to a waterfront cafe that brought the full effect of what life would be like if she doesn’t freak out over my plans and what I have movement on right now.

She ordered a cheeseburger with fries but hasn’t touched it.

Meanwhile, I’m fucking starving because the moment I checked into my hotel room, I came to hunt her down. Thanks to her best friend and Miles getting me in contact with her, it wasn’t hard.

What is hard, though, is the constant throb in my cock that hasn’t stopped pulsating since Liv has been in my sights again. When she appeared with light jean shorts and that yellow tank top that left shit to my imagination.
