“Seriously?”
Chuckling, I nod again.
Then, before I can say or do anything else, she hops up onto me, wrapping her arms around my neck and her legs around my waist.
“So you’re happy?” I ask.
“Are you kidding me?” she shouts in my ear. She pulls back, and I finally see that brilliant smile I’ve been wanting. “Of course I’m happy.”
I smile back at her, and then she’s dropping her mouth to mine, giving me a kiss that tells me just how excited she is.
When I told Rusty I wasn’t entirely sure where this was gonna go between Abby and me, I was serious. I didn’t know—but I had an idea. Had an inkling. I could tell it was just…special. Different. Deeper, in a way neither of us was expecting.
So when it came time to decide whether I’d be buying a plane ticket to go home next week or sticking around Cedar Point to give this little town a shot at being my new home, there was no contest.
There’s never been a contest, if I’m honest.
Abby and that damn quarter will win, every time.
And I wouldn’t have it any other way.
