“Help me, please!” Shescream-cried the words at him.
He parked and grabbed hisphone to call for help as he ran with her to her car at the side ofthe long stretch of road between two large farms.
He looked at the screen as he liftedit and saw he had no service.
“That’s weird.” He peeredinto the car and saw it was empty.
A warning prickled at the back of hisneck and he spun to face the female who’d flagged him down and hadonly a heartbeat to see a male swinging a wrench at hishead.
Then everything went black.

“Okay, so you can wearthis to dinner with Jovan and Arely,” London said, lifting a gauzyteal dress that looked like it could be worn by someone with thetitle princess before their name.
“That’s gorgeous,” Bellasaid. “It’s so fancy. Are you sure it’s not too fancy?”
“Heck no,” London said. Shecarefully laid the dress inside a garment bag. “Jovan’s family iswell-connected. You won’t believe the house they live in, it’s afreaking mansion. Everyone dresses to the nines there, a gown likethis is a must.”
“Thanks for letting meborrow it.”
“Kash can take youshopping in the market and you can pick up some clothes foryourself to keep at the house, that way you’ll have things therefor emergency dinners.”
Bella smiled. “Does that happen veryoften?”
“You never know with ourmom’s friends.”
Something made Bella shiver. Sherubbed at the back of her neck as her wolf let out a worried soundin her head.
“You okay?” Londonasked.
“Yeah, I just feelstrange.”
“Strange how?”
“Like afraid? But just fora second.”
London stared at her andBella had the strangest feeling she was trying to read hermind.
“You and Kash aren’t mated,but you’re truemates.”
“Yeah, why?”
“Because even without beingfully mated, you two have a connection that allows you to feelstrong emotions, even over a distance. Can you feelhim?”
Bella searched her feelings. “Um,no.”
“Call him.”
Bella found Kash’s name in hercontacts and called. It went immediately to voicemail. She sent atext, but it didn’t look like it went through. Even video chattingdidn’t work.
“Do you have access to hislocation?”
“We just talked aboutsharing our locations with each other, but we didn’t doit.”
“I do, lemmecheck.”
Bella stood and paced, worry settlingover her like a heavy blanket. What if something was wrong withKash? Why couldn’t she feel him anymore?
