Yeah, dude, and I’ll makesure Bella gets hooked up with the sexiest male in thepack.

He let out an unholy snarlfrom his wolf, then he forced himself to roll to the side, surprised to feel fur. With a groan of pain, he caught the scent ofmolten metal as his skin split and his veins poured out the ironthat had poisoned him.

He felt like he was falling, his wingsbreaking free of his back as his mom and Rena both called out thathe would be fine when he woke up.

He wasn’t quite sure he believed them, but he was just glad to be holding onto Bella.

His sweet truemate.

If he didn’t make it, at least he gotto hold her one last time.

I love you,cheril.

Chapter Nineteen

Kash woke and sat up sofast that he nearly took a header off whatever he was lyingon.

“Hey, careful,” his dadsaid, his voice a low rumble.

Kash blinked to clear his blurryvision and saw his dad standing next to him.

“Oh, honey,” his mom said, scooting his dad aside and hugging Kash. “I was so worried itwouldn’t work.”

He hugged her back andthen looked around, finding Bella in her human form next to him onwhat looked like a large hospital bed. But the room he was in hadrough-hewn walls and no electrical equipment, which told him he wasin the Fae Realm.

He put his hand on Bella’s neck andfelt her pulse in his fingertips. “She’s okay?”

“She’s great, the spell tosave you just sapped her strength,” his mom said. “She’ll wake upsoon enough, I’m sure.”

“What spell was it?” It wasremarkable that his mom and Rena were able to speak to him fromhours away when he was near death.

He turned his wrists over, finding them healed from the iron burns. He felt amazing, actually.Like he could run a marathon or fight an ogre. Or send Bella intoorbit with a few hours of loving.

“I knew you wouldn’t makeit if I had to set up a portal to get to you in Rhone, and then setup another portal to the Fae Realm to one of the healers,” his momsaid. “So I called Rena and she shared her power with me. Sirenfaecan basically transport fae to another plane of existence and speakto them through a mental link. She opened a portal to you andmetaphysically pulled you into the other plane. Your body was stillin Rhone, but your soul was with us.”

Rena walked into the room with Luke.“I’ve never actually done it before, so you can imagine how glad Iam that it worked.”

“Thank you,” he said, emotion choking him. He knew how close he’d walked to the edge ofdeath. “What happened to Bella?”

“In order to heal you, Ihad to bind you two together. It’s similar to the bond Luke and Ihave, and your parents have—a blood bond. But it’s actuallystronger, it’s a soul bond. You two are linked on a cellular level. In fact, it had an interesting side effect.”

She didn’t say what the side effectwas, just let her gaze lower to his abdomen.

He looked down and saw a dark graytattoo spread across his midsection. When he moved, it took on ametallic hue.

His mom brought over a mirror, and hestraightened and inspected it. The dark gray markings resembledflowers coiled with thorny vines, the edges of the thorns glintinglike they were made of metal. Buried among the leaves were tinysymbols that he recognized as the ancient fae language.

“How the hell did thishappen?” he asked.

His mom sat on the edge ofthe bed and smiled at him. “I don’t want to keep saying we don’tknow, but the truth is that we don’t. When Rena pulled the ironfrom your blood, it split your skin open and you and Bella wereboth covered with blood and iron. While you were healing in thisother plane, we opened a portal to Rhone, and then another portalto the Fae Realm, and brought you both to the healer. As we werewaiting for your bodies to heal, we cleaned you both up and that’swhen we noticed your tattoo.”

“I talked to mygrandparents while you and Bella were healing, and they said thatsome of the ancient spells were designed to leave marks like thatas a way to show the power of the fae, a lasting remnant of thespell,” Rena said. “Bella didn’t get a tattoo, but then again, Ididn’t have to cut her skin to shreds to get iron from her blood. She’s unconscious and healing because I essentially had to use herhealth to heal you, and it’s why you two are bonded now. But whereyour parents, and Luke and I, got marks on our hands from the bloodbond, you got a tattoo.”

“It’s a damn cool one,”Luke said. “Thank you for saving me.”

Rena nodded with a smile.

Logan cleared his throat. “Son, do youknow what happened?”
