Kash nearly jumped out of his skin. Heteetered backward, slamming his shoulder into the side of the guardstation with a curse.

London grinned at him fromoutside the station.

Rubbing his shoulder, he glowered ather as he stepped outside. “What the ever-loving hell,London?”

“You were daydreaming. Ithought it would be funny to scare you, but I didn’t honestly thinkI could.”

“I wasn’tdaydreaming.”

“Um, yeah you were. Wereyou thinking about Bella? Don’t tell me anything gross, though.”

He laughed. “I was thinking about themating ceremony, and that I was glad Remy could come intotown.”

“It was nice seeing him. Ican’t imagine setting out on my own and looking for a place tostart a pack like he is.”

“Me either. Hopefully he’llfind a place that he and his wolf like. I’m kind of surprised youtwo never got together.”

She wrinkled her nose. “He’s not mytruemate. Plus, everyone figured he and Lyric would end uptogether, but that didn’t happen.”

“Speaking of, when is herwedding?”

“Next weekend, I’m headingup Wednesday, the ceremony is Saturday.”

“Cool. So why did you cometo harass me? Or was there no point to it and you just felt likegiving me a heart attack?”

“The heart attack was abonus. I just stopped by to say hi and drop off these cookies thatMom made for you. I took a few off the top for my deliveryfee.”

She handed him a plastic container andhe lifted the lid and saw his favorite chocolate crinkle cookies.“Awesome. Thanks, London.”

“You bet. Did Bella tellyou about our girls’ night?”

“Yep. She’s reallyexcited.”

“I am too. Manis, pedis, and margaritas. It’ll be epic.” She gave him a little wave andsaid, “Gotta jam. Work calls. See ya later, bro.”

Kash waved and set the cookies on thedesk, opening the lid more fully and taking a large cookie out. Before he took a bite, he sent a quick text to his mom to thank herfor them.

I told Bella about them,so you have to save her a few. Don’t think you can go eating themall and hiding the evidence.

He sent her a laughingemoji. I promise to save herone.

I said a few.

Fine. I thought I was yourfavorite son?

You definitelyare.

Pushing the lid back inplace, he stepped from the station and took a bite of thechocolatey cookie, stifling a groan as he looked around. It wasquiet in the retirement community, but it was supposed to be thatway.

Safe.

He loved being part of the securityteam. Loved knowing that he was helping to keep pack members safe.Someday, his parents would move into the retirement community andhe’d be watching out for them too.

When he was a kid, hisparents retiring had seemed like a hundred years away, but time hada funny way of moving at light speed no matter how you tried toslow it down. He’d felt like his life was passing him by, so he’dcast the spell to find his truemate, and Bella had come crashinginto his life.

So much had changed in the last year, from his friends finding their truemates to the young fae femalesJason and Cades had taken in, to the danger that had come onseveral fronts to their pack. Not to mention how Kash had nearlydied and been saved by a powerful fae and his sweettruemate.

He’d rather not have comeclose to death, but he definitely wouldn’t trade anything about hispast because that road had brought him to Bella and she was wortheverything.
