“Nothing, I was justtelling her that you were hoping to rustle up your truemate with aspell.”

“How is that funny?” hegroused.

“It’s not, I think it’ssweet.”

He made a face. “You haven’t foundyour truemate yet, either. Are you going to cast a spell forhim?”

“Maybe, but I kind of wantto leave it up to fate for now,” she said.

“The spell doesn’tinterfere with fate,” he pointed out.

“I know.” She tilted herhead and smiled. “I just have a feeling I should wait, you know?Maybe it’s the wolfy part of me that wants to wait to see howthings go instead of dialing into my fae nature to cast a spell.”She scratched the rake along the cleared ground and turned it overcarefully, balancing a load of sticks and leaves that she dumped ina wheelbarrow. “But I’ll keep my fingers crossed that your truemateshows up with your spell real soon. Are you casting it here or inthe Fae Realm?”

“The Fae Realm.”

“Why not here?” Kinleyasked.

“I don’t know,” he said. “Ijust feel like it will work better if I’m in the otherrealm.”

“I don’t think that’s athing,” London said. “Mom cast her spell in this realm and Dadfound her.”

“True, butstill.”

“All right, well, goodluck.”

He turned his attention back to thewood, set a new piece up, and split it.

In a few hours, he’dportal to the Fae Realm and cast the spell. The truemate spellwould draw the couple together in an accelerated way. According towhat he’d heard over the years from other fae who had performed thespell, they’d feel compelled to go to a particular place and theirtruemate would be there. Sometimes it happened fairly quickly, sometimes it took a while.

However long it took, he couldn’t waitto cast the spell.

Everything was in place: Gideon hadmoved out into a home in the town’s trailer park, Kash had cleanedthe house from top to bottom and stocked the fridge and pantry, andhe’d called off work the following week, just in case he met histruemate tonight and wanted to take time off to get to know her. Hesure as hell hoped he met her tonight.

There was really nothing quite likethe full moon.

And he certainly hopedtonight’s full moon was the very best one of his life.

When Kash had finishedwith the clean-up, he hurried home and showered, changing into apair of dark jeans and a long-sleeved shirt. He shaved, styled hishair, and gave himself a critical once-over in the mirror over thebathroom sink before he grabbed his things and headed outside. Kashleft Allen through a portal he created in his backyard that openedinto his parents’ backyard in the Fae Realm. He closed the portaland took off his shirt, setting it on a chair on the backpatio.

It was warmer in the Fae Realm than ithad been in Allen, the crisp spring afternoon would lead to achilly night no matter the realm, though.

A fairy could cast the truemate spellanytime, anywhere, so long as he or she had the spell memorized. There were no supplies needed or special locations, just the fairyand the spell.

His mom had cast the spellwhen she’d been dying from iron poisoning, chained up by a crazywolf who wanted to use her fae power to rob banks. She’d nearlydied, and she’d spoken the truemate spell over and over until shelost consciousness and his dad had felt pulled to herlocation.

He certainly hoped his truemate wasn’tin danger. He just wanted to find her.

Letting out his wings, he stretchedthe large, white feathered appendages out and rolled his neck. Hehadn’t had his wings out in a while. He could fly with them andcarry someone for short distances.

Turning, he walked a shortdistance away, entering his mom’s flower and herb garden bystepping over the short fence meant to keep the small critters fromdestroying everything. Among the sweet-smelling flowers and plants,he closed his eyes and thought about the future. About finding histruemate and building a life and family with her.

Opening his eyes, he stretched out hiswings and spoke the spell loudly.

Then a second time.

He could feel a stirringin his bones, his wings trembling as he turned in a slow circle,half-expecting to see his truemate come walking around the side ofthe house.
