TOMMASO

‘What if they need me back at work?’ she says, buttering her croissant. They don’t, Ella. I checked in. And you work for me. After our talk last night, I knew she’d come up with plans to leave.

“Need you?” I ask, grinning. “I don’t think they need hot-headed employees who are always ready for trouble.”

“Do you think I will just stay here twiddling my thumbs while you keep acting like the master of the universe?” Her bold tone. Sexy.

“Frankly, yes.” I want to irritate her more. She closes her eyes and rubs her forehead as if she is calling on all her inner strength. She doesn’t understand.

“I need to go to work.”

“No. You do not.” I say. “Not until I change your mind about me.” I smirk.

“I want to leave.” Her tone is determined and forthright. She looks even more alluring when she is vulnerable.

“Why? We have a deal.” Come on, Ella.

“I… have my loans to pay and the rent, and–”

“They will be taken care of,” I shrug.

“You are being irrational.” Me? I say nothing. I want to kiss her, or spank her or fuck her. I inch closer to her and she flinches. Again. I am frightening her. Again. I take a cleansing breath and decide to divert her attention.

“Maybe, you haven’t seen all the delicacies this house offers. If you do, you might not have a hard time staying.’ I say with a subtle smile. She frowns again, and keeps silent through the remaining of our breakfast. After we have finished, I show her the TV room.

"You have a whole gaming area?" She laughs. I like her laugh. It’s arousing.

"Yes, but I'm not good at them." I admit.

"You are… amusing," she says. Our arms brush against each other.

"So are you, Miss Hart, when you're not being annoying, of course." I inch closer to her.

"I'm annoying when you're unreasonable."

"Me? Unreasonable?" God. She smells amazing.

“Yes. 'Unreasonable' could be your middle name.” Witty Ella.

“I don't have a middle name.”

“Unreasonable would suit you, then.” She rolls her eyes. She doesn’t give up. Does she?

"And, of course, you've been in here, but wouldn’t have seen this…" I open another door inside my library and point to the pool table.

"Shall we play?" she challenges, suddenly leaving my side and I wince. Miss Hart is up for a game?

"Ah… Okay. Have you played before?"

"A few times," she says, avoiding eye contact. She's lying. Sweet.

"You're a hopeless liar. Either you've never played before or–"

"Frightened of a little competition?" she interrupts me. This is a new side to her I've not seen before.

"Frightened of a little girl like you?" I scoff.

“Another bet?”
