“Come in.”

I enter Lucifer’s study and find it smaller than I thought it would be. Dark wood paired with red carpet, while matching red sofas take up most of the room with a small bar off to the side.

“You asked for me?” I say, taking a moment to straighten my jacket.

“Yes, come on in, Levi; have a seat.” He motions to the sofa across from him and I turn to sit, wondering why I’ve been summoned so early. Of course, I was already stirring, but I figured we would talk after breakfast.

“I just got done talking to your father and the rest of the Council leaders,” he says, and the news shocks me enough that my well placed stoic face slips. “Yes. I know, I know. I said we would do it once in Purgatory, but I started to think that if we’re up against Elverson, then he probably has eyes everywhere.”

That is a good point. “He has alluded as such with his blackmail,” I supply, and Lucifer nods.

“As relieved as he was, we’ve agreed that it’s probably best to act like you’re carrying out your end of the deal and show up with only your immediate family in tow. Well, of course, Astaroth and myself will come as well, but being leaders of Hell, I doubt he would see a big problem with that.” Lucifer smirks.

“So, does this mean the Council has a plan?” I ask, feeling hopeful that I can put this behind us.

“They are more than likely working on a fall out plan as we speak. Knowing Elverson, he’s not going to be happy with this turn of events. Depending on what his reasoning is for wanting this merger in the first place, he won’t just let this go without retribution,” Lucifer tells me.

“That’s what I’m worried about. He said he had access to Rez’s mother, and he knew my family’s routines. I don’t know what to do,” I admit.

Lucifer gets up and buttons his jacket, and I do the same. “Don’t worry about it. We will take care of everything; it’s our job. I just wanted to give you a heads up before we take off.” He places his hand on my shoulder and leads me to the door. “Go enjoy breakfast with your actual bonded. I’ll be there in a few minutes, and once we’re done, we’ll leave.”

As I head back to our hall, I meet up with the others on the way to breakfast, and I find myself lost in thought. There are too many variables, and it’s making me anxious. Elverson is a big player, and having Lucifer validate my concerns doesn’t make me feel any better. What is he going to do when he finds out he can’t get what he wants? Is he going to follow through with his threats? Attack Knox or Ryker?

His threat to do something to Rez’s mother is a moot point, it seems. Maybe he was misinformed that she’s dead. I wouldn't put it past him to go directly after Rez, though, since he can’t use her family against her. My mind feels scrambled, and I can’t think straight, since I didn’t get much sleep last night. I almost pass the dining room when I hear my name called.

I shoot Knox a small embarrassed smile and pull myself out of my musings to find the dining room already set up and everyone but Lucifer at the table.

“Aww, look at my family. Looking fresh eyed and bushy tailed,” Lilith squeals as I walk into the dining room.

“Ugh!” Rez says as she lays her head on the table. I take my usual seat and lean forward with a smirk.

“Long night?” I tease, keeping my voice down.

“My pussy has clocked out. She’s on vacay, and she’s not coming back,” she mumbles, and I chuckle, not expecting that answer. She raises her head and looks directly at me. “No one told me the downside of having multiple partners. Is there a cream or a store where I can switch out my body parts when they start to become raw? This is a delicious torture.”

“Sweetie, the trick is having gangbangs so you please all of them at the same time and then you can rest in between,” Lilith chimes in.

“Yes!” Lynx does a fist pump. “Gangbangs, baby!” He cheers and does a little shuffle in his chair.

I blink in shock at what my mother just said and then force myself to forget it as I try to hide the grimace of picturing it.

“Thanks, Lilith,” Rez says with pursed lips.

“Nonsense. Call me Mom! We’re family… And I’m sorry about my little outburst from before. I shouldn’t have told you to call me differently. Though it’s not an excuse, I wasn’t myself. Hopefully, you’ll forgive me. Now eat so we can start our day.” She doesn’t even wait for my forgiveness or reply before sending the plates around the table.

“Did Lilith just give you permission to have gangbangs with all of her children and then some?” Knots asks on the other side of Rez.

“Yep.” Rez deadpans as she grabs some biscuits off a flying plate. Her response doesn’t give enough away to indicate what she thinks about the practical execution of that act, but I definitely can’t say I’m against the idea. As my mistress, she can have anything her heart desires.

We make quick work of breakfast after that wonderful advice mother so wisely gave us, and we all head to the parlor. Lucifer clears his throat to get our attention. “Okay everyone,” he starts. “This is how today will go.” Everyone turns to face him as he continues. “Astaroth and myself, along with Lilith, will leave and head to Purgatory, accompanying Levi, Zeke, Knox, and Ryker.”

“Aww,” Moni whines and leans into Chester for comfort.

“I know it sucks, honey, but the council and I have decided it will be best to play as if everything is going to Elverson’s plan, up until the very end.”

“Still don’t like it,” Moni mumbles but relents.

Lucifer nods and looks over our group and focuses on Rez. “During this time, Rez, you can work on your potions and bring Knots and Lynx’s memories back. Hopefully, by that time, you guys will be able to join all of us at the Hub and we will have sorted all of this out.
