“What makes you think I can even make whatever happened back there magically happen again?” I ask, pulling my hair up and putting it in a ponytail without a tie. If you haven’t done it before, you’re missing out. Or your hair is too short. Believe me, it’s possible. Hopefully it stays, but I have a feeling he’s gonna be knocking the thing loose all day.

“Well, Bez was right. Whatever those were, they came from you. The question is, why and how?” he says, circling me. I turn, keeping him in my sights. “You still don’t know what you are, right?”

“Yeah. I’m an unknown who can pull up a defensive shield and apparently has invisible anger daggers,” I mumble.

“Your disdain is an art form itself. You know that?”

“Is that really necessary for this?” I ask.

“No, just poking the bear to see how angry you really are,” he states, and his tail whips out, but I see it in time to jump over it. “Well, at least you’re paying attention. So, let’s focus on what we do know. You’re mated to the Four Horsemen at least… Did anything happen? Did you get a vision? Did the guys? Something?”

I glance over to the door, wondering if I can make a break for it, but Murmur pops up in my way.

“Ah ha! You do know something!” he yells in excitement.

“Of course, I know something, but it’s personal,” I remark.

“Oh, Rez. There’s nothing that is considered personal between you and your trainer,” he sighs and shakes his head at me.

“Oh, come on, Murmur. I haven’t even told the guys this or even Lynx, and he knows everything,” I point out.

“Oh, this is gonna be good then,” Murmur says, rubbing his hands together. “Tell me, tell me. I need more.”

I laugh and shake my head at the Demon before me, who looks like he’s about to get up to no good. “You are worse than Ryker. You know that?” I tell him.

Murmur throws his head back and laughs. “Ha. Of course, I am. Ryker and I have spent years together. Who do you think taught him the art of sharing information?” he challenges.

“Sharing information?” I ask, rubbing my head. “I don’t think that’s considered sharing information. Don’t you mean gossiping?”

Murmur’s tail slams into his chest along with his hand as his jaw drops with a gasp. “Oh, no no no no. Rez, there are differences between gossiping and sharing information.” Murmur scoffs as he stops circling me.

I stop in my tracks and place my hands on my hips. “Oh, I can’t wait to hear this,” I say sarcastically.

Murmur clears his throat. “There are two types of gossiping. The first one is when you find enjoyment in passing on high-quality knowledge that you’ve gathered to those less deserving.” My jaw drops as I stare at him.

What?

“No. How in the wor—”

“The second type of gossiping is when you pass on low-quality information, such as rumors or lies, to ruin someone’s reputation. Never deal with those types, they darken the soul and you end up down in level five, hating your afterlife,” he says, wagging his finger in my face. “But sharing information? Mwauh”—he does a chef’s kiss—“It’s the art of perfection,” he says breathlessly and places his hands on my shoulder before looking off into the distance. His eyes go glassy, as if he’s actually seeing what he’s talking about.

“It’s when you’re on that tightrope and you have to find that perfect balance before falling to your death.” He looks back at me, his eyes shining with excitement. “Sharing info, Rez, is when you seek to increase your knowledge,” he says passionately. “It’s when that dire need hits you to find answers and solve that puzzle, and you can only do it with someone else’s information.”

I gently grab his hands and remove them from my shoulders, taking a step back. “You’re really crazy, aren’t you?”

His eyes flash black before they return green, and he gives me a salacious smile. “And they say I’m the sane one. So, come on… Share with teacher.”

“Fine, but you do know if you tell the rest of L.A.M.B., I’ll consider it gossiping, so it stays between us,” I counter, and Murmur sucks on his teeth as he raises a finger up.

“You are learning!” He holds out his hand. “Deal.”

I shake his hand and finally tell someone else about the two visions I had when I first went through the portal for school and when Lilith’s unbinding spell went to hell, so to speak. It still gives me goosebumps to think about as I explain how I saw the Four Horsemen, and how, before they could run me over, I heard them whispering. They said I had come and I was Redemption, and then I came to in Zeke’s lap. I don’t leave out anything, remembering from before I woke up from my small coma after the session with Lilith, and again when Zeke got his tattoo. I tell him about Death’s words, “You will see me. You will see us, always. You will be our redemption.”

Levi’s tattoo came with the words, “You will balance all with heart and soul.”

Murmur nods and says "Famine” before motioning me to continue.

So I explain about Ryker’s tattoo and how the words “The veil of deceit of thy enemies shall be revealed” came to me when he got his. I mention how that power worked when I stepped out of the glen and there was an ambush.
