Fuck! He read my mind!

“Um. Just out of curiosity. How are… um… traitors… handled in Hell?”

Bez seems to sit straighter in his chair at my words. Astaroth’s tail whips out in irritation, releasing a thunderous boom. Murmur just squints in our direction, and Lucifer, he becomes as still as a statue. He doesn’t move, except for the fire flaming in his eyes.

“You can’t kill the messenger, and Lynx is very good at his job,” I go on, standing before Lynx, protecting him from L.A.M.B. I trust Lynx with my life, but it doesn’t mean that they will. They’ve known Trometh longer, so why would they have any reason to believe my friend and mate?

“Release him, Lynx,” Lucifer orders.

‘Rez! I can’t. He will run. I had to chase him; he has a device on him, and if I let go, I’m sure he’ll disappear! Here, come see. It’s why he’s bleeding. It’s embedded in his shoulder. I tackled him when he tried to use it, and biting down and dragging him here like this was the only way to stop him.”

I look back at the scary murderers at the end of the table before I squat down and look up into Lynx’s mouth. When he tilts his head, it makes Trometh cry out. He tilts enough for me to see an edge of silver metal poking out of the skin where the blood is slowly dribbling down Trometh’s arm.

‘I see it, Lynx.’

“Murmur, I need your help,” I plead. The blue Demon arches a brow while he cocks his head in my direction. “Trometh has a device implanted in his shoulder that he was trying to use to escape.” Murmur heads over once he hears that. “But if Lynx lets go, he’ll be able to use it.”

Murmur crouches down, and Lynx repeats the process, showing him Trometh’s shoulder. Before Lynx can blink, Murmur’s tail whips out faster than my eyes can keep up with, and Trometh is screaming bloody murder while Murmur’s tail is holding a silver dollar-sized coin covered in blood.

“An Aeroportal?” he says, inspecting the coin. He throws the coin through the air for Bez to catch it as his tail wraps around Trometh’s neck and lifts him from Lynx’s mouth to his eye level. “Where was this to take you?” Murmur calmly asks the sputtering Demon.

“My guess is Asmodeous,” Lynx says, popping up in his human form. He decided just to shift into low-riding jeans and no shirt. His tanned abs stretch as he uses me as a wall and leans on me. “But I think he had a split-second scare after Angel said her father would be pissed that he was trying to ‘sweeten the deal,’ so who knows.” He shrugs his shoulders and looks around the table. “Damn, I’m starving. Whatcha got to eat?” he says as he plops down in the empty seat across from me and starts serving up food.

“Did he just bring a traitor into our midst and then sit down to eat like it was nothing?” Chester asks Moni. She just looks at Lynx with wide eyes, like she’s never seen him before. In her defense, she hasn’t seen this side of him before.

“Oh, yeah, I forgot. I’ll be right back. I gotta wash my hands. BRB,” Lynx says, getting up. “And before I forget, I think he snuck out through your ward. There’s an area that’s weakened, and it looks like someone has been picking at it over some time,” he calls back before running off to the kitchen.

Lucifer slowly walks to the sniveling Demon curled up on the floor, clicking his tongue before speaking. “Trometh. You, out of all people, should understand how I loathe wasting my time. So, let’s get started. I have training in thirty minutes. Let’s see what we can get done in that time,” he says, and smiles as he snaps his fingers, sending the Demon, Lilith, himself, and the rest of L.A.M.B. away. Probably to his torture room.

Lunch is pretty short, and soon enough, I’m grumbling just like everyone else when I head to the training room. Although this time, the sight is something to behold. Bez and Lucifer are wearing shorts while they spar in the middle, and they look like yin and yang on a dessert platter for dear old me.

Bez’s darker skin pops against his black wings and white shorts as his muscles flex while he sends fireballs flying toward Lucifer. The Devil himself dodges and rolls closer to Bez, springing up to throw jabs at him. His black shorts hang dangerously low on his hips, and I bite my lip as I stifle a moan.

“You really need to get that under control,” Ryker teases me as he walks by and smacks my ass.

“I can’t help it if they look yummy,” I state.

“Ugh,” Moni says in disgust. “I can handle my brother, but that’s my dad.” Her eyes go wide as she shakes her head and moves off with Chester.

“I just like to window shop, Moni,” I yell. “I have enough dicks. I have a carousel I can ride already. I don’t need any more rides,” I say, throwing my arms up. Rolling my eyes, I turn to find my guys in different states of amusement. JP and Zeke laugh together, holding each other up. Knots smirks at me while Levi’s eyes are smiling at me. Lynx, the little ass, rolls on the mat, holding his belly. Ryker’s eyebrows raise as if to ask “really?” and that’s when I hear a throat clear.

“If you’re done drooling over your so-called pony rides, we might be able to begin some training,” Lucifer states with a wickedly evil smile.

“Fuck me,” I groan.

“Which ride are you calling for?” Lynx asks between his laughter as he sits up on a mat. Ignoring him, we all start stretching as we watch Murmur, Bez, and surprisingly, Lilith stroll in wearing workout clothes.

“Your mom is training?” I lean over and ask Levi.

“Apparently so.” He nods.

“Okay, that’s enough stretching; let’s get started,” Astaroth yells and starts to pair us up. He goes down the list and gives us partners for this session, telling us we will be rotating through our five trainers. Moni and Chester are an obvious pair since they are mates. She practically glows brighter than the sun when she flies over to Lilith for their first training session with her.

Ryker is paired with Levi, and Murmur only gives the pair a haughty smile as Ryker gives him a head nod in greeting. I really wish I was a spectator instead of the one getting my ass handed to me. JP and Zeke get sent over to Astaroth, and a part of me mourns not getting picked to work with the growly Demon first. The Wrath Demon has kinda grown on me, plus even though he’s firm in his training, his temperament meshes will with mine. Lucifer beckons Knots and Knox over, which leaves me and Lynx. I can’t help but assess how Knots looks without his Demstone. He still looks healthy, but that doesn’t mean he will stay that way for long. We turn to look and see Bez leaning against the wall, smiling our way.

‘Aww, fuck. Rez, promise me you'll take good care of my hide when I’m dead and skinned?’ Lynx groans as we slowly walk over to the gentle mass murderer.
