‘Do we have to survive? Can’t we just coast… barely perish?’ Lynx interjects.

‘Still having problems over there, or did you give up and decide to stay furry for the rest of your life?’ I tease.

‘Well, at least this way I get out of giving you a back rub,’ he teases and smiles.

‘True, but it also means you miss out on good food, games, and looking at your dick again. Really want to pass that up?’ I quirk my eyebrow, and when his eyes widen, I know I’ve won my case.

‘Fuck!’ he hisses.

“You said Lilith had three Demons inside of her. Is it possible to be born with a Demon already possessing you?” Zeke asks with intensity, leaning forward on the sofa.

Lucifer uncrosses his legs and sets down his drink next to him. “Now, that is an interesting question. Why do you ask?”

Propping his elbows on his knees, Zeke rubs his hands together in front of himself. JP rubs his back and whispers in his ear. Zeke gives him a friendly smile before taking a deep breath and refocusing on Lucifer.

“I’ve always felt a dark presence in me, ever since I was a kid. I just thought it was a part of my nature, until recently.” He nervously licks his lips before continuing, and I’m proud of him for being willing to admit this secret. He deserves answers. “There was one time when I was trying to change a decision, and this entity, for lack of a better word, took over. He said ‘I got it from here’ and I could no longer control my body. In the end, I blacked out, and he took over. I was lucky enough that I had weakened myself to the point he couldn’t do anything with me, and my family found me in time.” JP pulls Zeke into a hug as Lucifer rubs his chin, then snaps his fingers.

Trometh and an Arte Demon dressed in cute red overalls run in—the latter wheezing—and stop by Lucifer’s chair.

“Ve srlsc ej cmnj,” Lucifer says, getting up and going over to the bar. The Demon runs off as fast as its little legs can take it while Trometh bows low and quickly walks away. We watch as Trometh easily catches up with the Arte Demon with his longer legs as we sit there in silence.

Grr. It’s really frustrating that I don’t know what the hell he’s saying. I don’t like the way he looks at the group when he doesn’t think we’re watching. It’s just something about him, and we never found out about the earring that we found in my closet.

“Do you think there’s a chance?” Murmur questions, making Lucifer another drink.

“A chance of what?” Levi asks, swinging his attention back to the Demons behind us.

Moni, Chester, and Bez come back into the Parlor looking better.

“What did we miss?” Chester asks, but Knox beckons him over and whispers in his ear.

“Oh!” Chester's eyes go wide, and he nods before playing telephone and passing on what he knows to Moni as they take their seat.

Lucifer turns to face us, leaning against the bar. “Demons can’t possess someone unless their barriers have been weakened and the vessel they are introduced to is extremely powerful. I assume, in Lilith’s case, the knife Adam shoved into her back weakened her enough for possession. I just don’t know what he used to move the Demons. So, no. I don’t think you were born possessed by a Demon,” he says, and Zeke’s shoulders drop.

“But I do think there’s a chance of a group possibly trying to fuck with you. There used to be a few individuals that were capable of… influencing those… out of their direct presence. But only one remains, and to err on the safe side, I sent word to have someone check on him,” Lucifer says. “I should hear back in a few hours.” He picks up his drink, taking a small sip before he salutes Murmur with it and he takes his seat.

“This entity—has he ever told you anything personal about himself?” Murmur inquires, sitting cross-legged in front of Zeke, getting into his personal space.

“No. When he talked, he always used the pronouns us or we. Why?” his brows pull down and he shifts in his seat.

“No reason, just trying to help sort out who’s messing with you.” His eyes search Zeke’s face before coming back up to his green eyes, and they suddenly narrow. “When was the last time you felt his presence?”

Zeke slightly squirms in his seat and audibly swallows as his eyes shift to Lucifer. “Right before we fell down here,” he admits.

This is news to me.

“What?”

“Zeke!”

“Are you okay?” I ask.

“Why didn’t you tell us?”

“QUIET!” Lucifer orders, and my body stiffens for a moment as I look at him like he’s lost his mind. Maybe he has. Obviously, he’s never been around us, but this is kinda normal for us. Glancing back over at my friends, I find them frozen in place.

“Hey, unfreeze them, you pompous ass!” I stand up and point to my group of guys on the sofa.
