He raises his eyebrows but walks in. “What’s going on, Lilly, pa—”

He quickly turns his accusing eyes to me, and I throw my palms up. “Hey, I was just asking her about a weird Horsemen tattoo and she started doing that,” I quickly deflect.

Lilith grabs Murmur’s biceps with a death grip. “The prophecy. Murmur, it’s happening. I need to talk to you all. Where are all the guys? I—I need to find them. I need—”

“I got you, Lilith,” he says gently as he turns her to head out, glancing over his shoulder at me. “If you saw Horsemen tattoos, we’ll talk later tonight, after dinner. Right now, finish what you must and get to your hall. We’re cleaning house, and it’s best if you’re out of the way.” He reinforces what Astaroth mentioned and rubs Lilith’s back as they walk out of the room, leaving me confused.

Why would the mention of tattoos send her over the edge? And why would she start mumbling a rhyme or a prophecy?

I groan as I pinch the bridge of my nose. Okay, Rez, get your shit together. There’s nothing I can do about that now, but I should finish these Demstones and pass them out before I take a shower and hopefully a nap.

The hardest part in making the Demstones was deciding what each person would like. As I head down to my hall, I hear guttural screams and Bez’s mocking voice. “You can run, but you can’t hide. We’ll find you.” He laughs maniacally.

“Go ahead and run, little bunny. We love the chase,” Murmur’s voice rings out, and a chill runs down my spine, making my stomach churn. I’m glad I’m not leaving my hallway for a while.

My first stop is Moni and Chester’s room, where I knock and hope I’m not interrupting anything.

The door opens up, and I find Moni's bright pink face while she hides her body behind the door. Chester is under the covers.

“I promise to make this quick,” I say, biting my lower lip while trying not to laugh at my own joke. I swear, I’m an adolescent boy at heart. Moni makes eye contact with me and snickers too, so I don’t feel so bad. “I just need Chester’s glasses and your hair for a moment. I’ll wait out here while you get his glasses and put on a robe,” I say, closing the door.

A few moments later, Moni comes outside with Chester’s glasses. I pop out his lenses and pull out the last Demstone. I realized I needed his glasses to finish his stone, so without ceremony I quickly open his glasses and put the stone on his nose piece before pouring his vial on the stone. Thinking of a stronger nose piece for him, yet flexible enough for him that it’s comfortable, I watch in awe as the stone transforms and molds to his glasses.

“Wow! It’s magic,” Moni whispers. My mouth drops open as I stare at my best friend and just shake my head.

“You’re a PIMP, and you’re shocked by magic? You are magic, Moni.” I laugh as I pop back in his lenses, handing them over to Moni, and she gives them a quick clean with the edge of her robe.

She’s unusually quiet, and I see her cycling through dark gray, white, and light teal.

“Okay, little mood ring, spill,” I say, placing my hands on my hips.

She sighs before reaching for her tail. It’s already grown longer, but it’s still not back to its normal length. “So, you remember when Lucifer pushed you guys out?”

“Yeah, what happened?” I ask. She seems unharmed, but that doesn’t mean anything. It’s been proven that emotional pain can be worse than physical.

“Well, it turns out that Lucifer knew JP’s mother and my egg donor. They actually dated, and one thing led to another… And we didn’t get used to heal a sore throat. So—”

“Wait, did you just make a swallowing cum joke?”

She giggles. “Yeah.”

“Oh my word, I don’t want to be around when or if JP hears that,” I say, leaning up against the wall.

She snorts. “I already did! I screamed it over and over in my head until we made it back to our rooms.” She laughs so hard that she falls over, but I catch her and the glasses.

“Woah there, I worked hard on those potions.” I help her up and look her over. “Here, this is yours. I hope you like it.” I hold up the FairyTail. “It’s a wrapped hair cuff, or in this case, it’s for one of your vines.”

Tears suddenly gather in her eyes and she starts sniffling.

Shit, did I do something wrong? Break a custom? Ugh, why is this so frustrating?

“I’m sorry, Moni, I didn’t mean to offend yo—oopmh.”

Moni grows to her normal height and tackles me, knocking the air from my lungs. “I love it so much. No one has ever given me beauty products before. Thank you. You’re the bestest friend I could have ever asked for. You’re like the opposite of a cursing in disguise.”

“Don’t you mean blessing?” I groan as the floor rumbles, and I hear Lucifer scream my name.
