She hurriedly dragged her friends outside, talking excitedly about a secret shifter party she had heard about. Fiona wanted to check it out and tried to convince the others as she waved the key to the party in her hand.

After a brief discussion, the girls all agreed. Fiona read the address printed on the key to Alexis, who drove.

Once they were all nestled comfortably in the car, they took the back roads, all deserted and each one windier than the last. This mysterious shifter party had Alexis extremely excited. After all, it was her birthday, and she was bound and determined to have a good time.

By the grace of God, there was a store on the way, and they pulled into the tiny parking lot to purchase masks, knowing they’d need them to blend in at this shifter masquerade. Once they were back in the car, Alexis drove eagerly toward their destination.

The road that led up to the location was eerie. Trees lined either side of the road. The moon rose high in the sky, and it gave more than enough light to illuminate the route ahead.

Alexis hummed with excitement. Every so often, she glanced in the rearview mirror to check her appearance, tucking and untucking a strand of light blonde hair behind her ear. While the thought of sex with a perfect stranger set her ablaze, it made her the tiniest bit nervous also.

But the thought of mind-blowing sex with a shifter was enough for her to pick up her speed.

“Do you really think this is a good idea?” whimpered a nervous Chloe.

Fiona turned in the passenger seat. “It will be fine. Like we said, it’s not about anything but sex.”

Alexis’s face was bright with excitement as she tapped the steering wheel. “I don’t know about you, but I’m in need of a sex party, or whatever this is. I want to get laid. I’m not going to complain if a hot shifter wants to rip my clothes off.”

“Same!” Lillian called from the seat behind Alexis. Both women bounce in their seats.

“And I doubt it’s mandatory,” Fiona said.

“What’s not mandatory?” Lillian asked.

“The sex. I know you two are all for it, but I’m just saying we don’t have to feel obligated,” Fiona replied.

Alexis glanced at the GPS and made a left. “Yeah, but if opportunity knocks, I’ll gladly open the door.”

Apparently, the same went for Chloe. “Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad I’m here. I wouldn’t let you guys go without me. I want to see it firsthand, too, but it’s just not my thing. I’ll be playing the role of fly on the wall.”

Chloe giggled. Alexis wasn’t sure, but her friends sounded as nervous as she secretly felt.

“What about you, Fi?” Chloe asked.

Fiona shrugged. “We’ll see what happens. If I feel game. But we do need to make a plan so everyone’s comfortable and knows what’s going on.”

“How about if anyone texts that they want to go, then we’ll go? If not, we assume we are crashing there until morning, and then we’ll leave together.”

“We’re crashing there?” Chloe asked.

Alexis almost laughed at the look Fiona gave to the shyest girl in the group.

“Oh, right.”

“Is that good with everyone?” Fiona asked.

Chloe nodded, and the other two cheered their approval.

Alexis glanced at Fiona digging in her purse. Fi was definitely the most grounded out of all of them. The girl was always on the lookout for a story. Speaking of …

“Are you seriously checking to see if your notepad is in your purse?” Alexis scoffed with a side glance as they approached a massive iron gate.

“Why not? This is a once-in-a-lifetime thing. At least I can gain some perspective while we’re here.” Fiona pulled out her notepad as Alexis pulled up to a guard standing to the side.

He approached the car and leaned in. “Can I help you?”

The women were stunned into silence as he peered into the car. He eyed them suspiciously until Alexis remembered the key.
