“I don’t know.” I grab my phone and check my messages. There’s nothing from Dane or Chandler. Just one from Nash and Ledger saying they were leaving in an hour but that was only twenty minutes ago.

“Maybe Dane and Chandler are done and came early?” I tell her, getting up and heading toward the door.

“Oh, maybe it’s someone selling cookies.” She laughs. “I’ve got some cash.”

I grin, shaking my head. Before opening the door, I lean up on my tiptoes to look out the peephole.

Three men. Alphas. Stand on the doorstep. The blond one in the middle has his attention on the door while the other two seem to be looking around.

“Who is it?” Aubrey whispers.

I step back and let her take a look. Something doesn’t feel right.

“What the fuck?” she mouths, raising her brows.

Another knock has us both jumping back. My heart pounds as a spike of unease fills me. “Hello?”

“Wait,” I tell Aubrey as she goes to answer the door. I grab the chain lock and put it in place.

“Good idea.”

With a thundering pulse, I open the door a crack. “Hello?” I answer.

The blond’s eyes snap down to me and a smile takes over his face. “Hi. Are you Willow?”

“Who's asking?”

He chuckles. “I’m Jared Johnson, this is Kirk and Mark, my brothers. We’re the sons of your dad’s boss.”

“Oh.” My brows rise. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen them, maybe five or six years. My dad brought me to a work party, and I remember meeting these guys. I remember they were flirting with me the whole time. They were cute enough. I remember laughing at their cheesy jokes and liking their attention.

“We heard you were in town, and that your brother woke up. That's amazing news by the way. We wanted to stop by and see how you were doing. We bought a gift for him.”

Jared bends down and picks up a gift basket.

Relief fills me and I take a step back, closing the door. I undo the chain link and open the door. I’m about to thank them, take the basket, and tell them I’d bring it to Wesley when they shove the door open.

“What the fuck!” Aubrey shouts as they push their way in.

“You two take that one. She’s seen our faces,” Jared barks, pointing to Aubrey.

Pure terror fills my veins.

“What's going on!” Tears sting my eyes. “Stop! Let her go!” I scream, lunging forward as Mark and Kirk grab Aubrey.

Arms wrap around me, holding me in place in a punishing grip. I thrash and kick. I try to scream but a hand covers my mouth.

Aubrey shouts and curses, struggling in their hold before Kirk pulls out a rag and shoves it over her mouth.

Aubrey slumps in their hold, eyes closing. I’m fully sobbing against Jared’s hand. “Shhhh,” he whispers against my ear. I shiver in repulsion, leaning away from him. “Be a good omega and come with me willingly and no one gets hurt.”

What does he want with us? Why me? Are they really my dad’s boss’s sons? The names are real people, that much I’m sure of. They do look vaguely familiar. But if it is really them, why would they be doing this? Why would they want to hurt us?

My eyes find Aubrey and my heart breaks. Tears stream down my face as I struggle to breathe with his hand over my mouth.

I won’t let them hurt her. I’ll do anything to keep her safe. If I resist, if I try something, they could kill her. I can’t risk it.

“What's it going to be? You going to make this hard and make your little beta pay?” I shake my head. “Good girl.”
