Shortly afterwards, I reached the salon of the beach house with Chris, Edward, and my girlfriend, completely luggage-free. Tanael had created a portal for us. His golden eyes were the last thing I saw before it closed again behind us. Longing and an insatiable desire sparkled in them.

My father was sitting in a wing chair reading a book. When we suddenly appeared next to him, he flinched slightly, but he seemed surprisingly calm despite these unusual events.

"Ladies, may I show you to the rooms?" Sam stood in the doorway and gave us his most charming smile. I immediately noticed the blush that rose to Aza's cheeks, which she tried to cover up with embarrassment.

I was not surprised when he led us to the same rooms we had occupied during our first visit. I gazed longingly out the window where the beach and the sea lay shrouded in darkness. This time, no torches were burning in the garden, and the sky above us was covered in clouds, moonless and starless.

Before joining the others in the dining room, I took a dip in the spacious pool and inspected the closet, which was filled with everything my heart desired: colorful T-shirts and jeans. I quickly put on a bright pink shirt with a star print, slipped into blue jeans and soft ballerinas, and made my way to dinner in high spirits.

"Sis, you look good," laughed Rick, who came towards me in the hall. He teasingly pulled my ponytail. He used to do the same thing before the Brotherhood took over and before we had all changed. But apparently, we hadn't completely lost each other.

"You too," I replied and pinched his side. He was terribly ticklish. Laughing, he jumped to the right and walked into the dining room. But it was empty. There were no people, no other creatures, and no food to be seen. We both stood dumbfounded in the doorway.

Where was everyone? Suddenly, I heard Aza's loud laughter from the opposite direction. We followed the sound until we stood in front of a door simpler than the others in the house.

My brother rammed his elbow into my side and pointed to the door handle. So much for ladies first.

He studiously ignored my are-you-serious look. I carefully pushed the handle down and peeked through the crack. My mouth dropped open at the sight that greeted me.

In front of me was precisely the same kitchen as the one in the villa in the underworld. Very cozy, with a cheerful Stephan at the stove, who was also preparing the food here, handling several pans and pots. Only the number of people at the table had changed. Tanael, Zuri, and Hecate sat around the ancient wooden table with Aza, Sam, Dad, Jordy, Chris, and Edward as if it were the most natural thing in the world. Rick pushed past me, attracted by the heavenly aroma of the meal, and sat down next to Jordy. He looked hungrily at the food that had already been served. Salads, freshly baked bread, and various dips were lined up on the table.

"Come in, Myrina," Zuri asked me in her soft voice. All eyes turned to me, even those of the man who had driven me to the highest heights just a few hours ago.

I hastily slipped into one of the last two accessible seats opposite the landlord. Shit, not again!, I thought, and the memory of the meal in this house when we had teased each other returned to me.

Tanael's smirk told me that his thoughts had also drifted in this direction.

"Rick, may I introduce Hecate?" asked Zuri, quite the hostess, pointing to the Goddess of Magic.

"Hello," Rick greeted her nonchalantly and waved across the table, which she acknowledged with a raised eyebrow.

Suddenly, my brother beamed and looked directly at her. "Hecate, like the goddess from Greek mythology?"

"Exactly this one," she coolly answered my brother's less serious question.

"Really now?" he blurted out, staring at me uncertainly.

"Yes." I pretended it was normal to dine with the gods of Greek mythology and angels and demons so as not to make my brother think any more about it.

He took one last astonished look at Hecate but was then distracted by Stephan, who was serving him steaming tomato soup.

"The tomatoes are fresh from the garden," he announced proudly, grinning from ear to ear. Where had our creepy butler gone?

"It smells delicious," Zuri praised him, which brought a slight blush to his cheeks.

It didn't only smell good; it also tasted really excellent. Soon, the table had become very quiet. Everyone was concentrating on their soup—everyone except me and my counterpart, whose gaze I could feel on me all the time.

"It's nice to see you in clothes you like, Myrina," his deep voice wafted across the table. I looked up from my soup plate in surprise.

"These trousers emphasize your sensual curves. I particularly like that. But I don't like that it will be difficult to tear them off you." His hungry eyes literally devoured me, and his rough, throaty voice took my breath away. I could only stare at him.

A wry smile formed on his lips. "Although, on second thought ..." He paused, leaning forward, the gold of his irises beginning to glow. I had to swallow. This man was driving me crazy. "I'd find a way to get those jeans and shirt off your body faster than you could scream, 'Oh my God!'"

A soft groan escaped me at his words.

"I'm glad you like it so much, Myrina," Stephan suddenly said next to me.

I looked at him in confusion. Everyone else was still spooning up their soup, including Tanael, who had a mischievous grin on his lips.
