"Uh..." I stammered. Had no one but me heard Tanael's words? Apparently, only my moans had been heard. Fortunately. Nevertheless, I gave the angel a dirty look, which was answered with a demanding one.

"Yes, Stephan!" I smiled genuinely at our former butler before turning to Tanael. "Oh my god! It's been a long time since my tongue was allowed to taste something so heavenly."

The angel suddenly stiffened, and I saw that he had to swallow hard this time. The fire in his eyes now seemed to devour him.

I innocently followed up with a sugar-sweet smile. What he could do, I could do too.

Unintentionally, my eyes fell on Zuri, who looked at me with her loving gaze, and my triumph collapsed. Shame welled up inside me. What had gotten into me? He was a married man, and I had no right to destroy their marriage.

I hastily ate the soup and tried to ignore the pure seduction sitting opposite me.

"How long have you been married?" my father asked our hosts at that moment. "You two look so familiar with each other. It's evidence of a long and happy marriage."

"Zuri and I—we're not married, Mr. Johnson." Tanael's eyes met mine only briefly. "But you're right about one thing: We've known each other for ages." He tenderly grabbed Zuri's hand, causing a twinge in my heart, which I quickly pushed aside.

Even if he was single, he would still be your enemy! Well, your allied enemy. Things became increasingly complicated and confusing.

"A happy partnership then," Dad continued the conversation, which I found unpleasant.

Meanwhile, Stephan was clearing the soup plates, and I hoped that the resulting noise would end the topic once and for all, but Zuri spoke up at the next moment.

"We have a lot in common, but not a partnership."

My father and I looked at them in confusion. What was I supposed to make of this? Were they a couple or not?

"I'm sorry, I must have made a mistake then," Dad apologized.

"No problem. You're not the only mistaken," Zuri replied, looking directly at me. I could feel the heat creeping up to my ears. Luckily, this time too, salvation came in the form of Stephan, who stood next to my chair with a huge roast and held it out to me in an inviting manner.

"Myrina, would you like some meat too?" Although I didn't feel like I could finish a bite at that moment, I put a piece of the wonderfully grilled roast beef on my plate.

A short time later, everyone else was fed with roasted meat, salad, and bread. Only the clattering of cutlery could be heard. However, the silence did not last long.

"Are you wearing underwear today?" Tanael stared at me greedily. "If I were to slip my hand under your shirt now, your beautiful breasts would be the first thing I could explore. Or would you prefer me to slide straight down to your wet center and circle your pearl with my finger? Would you be ready for me?"

I felt hot and cold at the same time; an urgent pulling sensation spread through my womb, and heat pulsed through my veins. I'm ready for him, I thought longingly.

No! This had to stop! I didn't want to be his pawn. I was worth more than that.

"Let me..." I exclaimed desperately when I noticed everyone at the table listening to me. Clearly, he had made sure that no one could hear his words but everything I said.

"Let me ... tell you, Stephan, how I admire your cooking!" I added contritely, raising my glass simultaneously, into which someone had poured wine. "To this wonderful meal!"

The others hesitantly did the same, and while I poured the wine down in one go, they also made the toast. "To this wonderful meal!"

The otherwise pale demon, moved by this praise, turned red in the face. However, his blue eyes shone with emotion.

The angel toasted me with a mischievous grin when I put the empty glass down again.

Sucker.

Fortunately, Tanael refrained from commenting further about me and my pants for the rest of the dinner. Nevertheless, I was glad my family got up after dessert to go to bed, so I quickly joined them.

Aza sat closer than necessary to Sam, and they were engrossed in a lively conversation. My friend gesticulated exuberantly with her hands and laughed every now and then, which he observed with a dreamy look. The shy Aza had disappeared and made way for the self-confident Angel of Feminism she had once been. Sam, who was usually the cheeky one, didn't interrupt her. Oh ha, had the two of them found each other?

I didn't bother them but thanked Stephan again for the delicious meal. The raspberry tiramisu had been the crowning glory, and the last three glasses of wine made me sway a little.

I waved briefly to Zuri and Hecate but avoided Tanael's gaze before disappearing through the door. On the upper floor, I wished Dad a good night with a kiss on the cheek, as well as my brothers.
