“Must. Run. Stay safe. Promise.” Dad’s ghostly stare bores into my eyes. “Promise.”

“I’ll leave and I’ll stay safe. You don’t have to worry about me.” I put my head to his chest, listening to his rattled breathing. “The ambulance is going to be here soon. You’re going to be okay.”

He shakes his head, his eyes shutting. “Tired.”

His breaths are raspy, his lungs making horrible noises in his chest.

“Dad,” I plead. “You must hold on a little bit longer. The ambulance is going to be here soon.”

The sirens are barely a screech in the distance, but they’re there.

“Just a little longer.” I hold on as tight as I can, terrified to let go. “You can do this, okay? Just focus on me and the sound of my voice. Everything is going to be fine.”

His head shakes from one side to the other. “Tired. So tired.”

Hot tears track down my cheeks as I try to listen to the beating of his heart. “It’s okay, the sirens are getting louder now. Just hold on a little while longer and everything is going to be fine.”

The sirens get louder, but I get the sick feeling in the pit of my stomach. He’s not going to make it. At that moment, a brief thought flashed through my head.

I hate him for leaving me alone to deal with his debt. I hate him for dying on me and forcing me into a life on the run.

The thought is gone as quickly as it comes. I take a shuddering breath, trying to pull myself together.

The last thing he deserves to see in his final moment is me falling apart.

When his breathing stops and his hand goes limp, I know I’m now entirely alone in the world.

The scream I hear is like nothing I’ve ever heard before—a blood-curdling scream, which sounds like a dying animal.

By the time I realize the scream is coming from me, the paramedics are declaring the time of death.

Chapter 8 - Sergey

Leonid pours vodka into the woman’s mouth before putting the bottle on the table and kissing her. I roll my eyes at Leon’s antics, knowing that it is only going to bite him in the ass one day.

My younger brother may be merciless when it comes to handling business, but the same can’t be said about his love for vodka and women.

I’m surprised that there isn’t already an army of young Leonid’s running around and trying to seduce as many girls as possible.

With the rate he goes through them on his bad nights, I would think that there would be at least one child hiding somewhere, but he insists that there isn’t.

And of course, it doesn’t stop him from spending every night with different women all the time.

It is getting old, but it is far easier than having a woman waiting at home.

Although, if my little flight attendant were the one waiting for me at home, I might feel differently. I am ready to settle down.

By the end of the night, Denis is going to be taking Leon home and waiting for him to throw up the liquor in his stomach.

I sigh, my arms wrapping around the woman in my lap. She tosses her red hair over her shoulder, one leg crossing over the other. Her black dress climbs higher up her milky thighs, but my cock does nothing.

Fuck, Anna is ruining women for me. All I want is her.

All that will change in two days.

I’ve spent the last five days thinking about what I would do to Anna once she was finally mine. There would be nobody looking for her or coming after her.

I smirk as my cock twitches.
