Sebastian cleared his throat. “I have my phone on. Call if you need me.”

I shooed him away. “Go.”

He exited through the secret door behind the curtain and then it was just the two of us.

Luna gestured to the couch. “Take a seat, Faith.”

She sank into one couch, and I took another.

“Can I get you something to drink?”

That sounded nice. “I’ll take a gin and tonic.”

Luna shot off a quick text message. “It’ll be here soon.” She set down her phone. “So how long have you and Sebastian been bumping uglies?”

My heart stopped in my chest. “Oh my God.”

“Please tell me you’re banging him. He’s gorgeous. You’re gorgeous. And frankly that man deserves some fun. All he does is work and take care of his mom. Don’t get me wrong, it’s noble, but he lives like a monk.”

I curled up on the couch like I was settling in for a chat with Daisy. “And here I was worried we wouldn’t have anything to talk about. What makes you think we’re sleeping together?”

She lifted a finger. “One, he’s never brought a woman here before.” She lifted a second finger. “Two, he looks at you like he wants to eat you alive or lock you up in his bedroom. Preferably both.”

This made my heart skip a beat. “He does?”

Luna tilted her head. “So you aren’t sleeping together but you want to sleep together. I must have gotten my signals crossed.”

I covered my face with my hands. “Am I that obvious?”

Luna smirked. “Yes. But in all fairness, so is he. This isn’t some one-sided attraction.”

“Well if it’s there, he’s hiding it well from me.”

Luna shook her head. “It took me all of twenty seconds of being in this room with the two of you to clock the attraction. If you aren’t noticing it, it’s because you’re not paying attention.”

Could that be true? Could Sebastian really be as attracted to me as I was to him?

And if he was attracted to me, then why the hell wasn’t he acting on it?

“You should act on it,” she said, as if reading my mind.

“Maybe I will,” I said, confidence growing. Hadn’t I told myself that very thing just a few days ago? If Sebastian’s friend registered something between us, then I should listen to her. I never had problems going after what I wanted, and I shouldn’t start now.

“How long have you known Sebastian?” I asked.

Luna lifted a singular brow. “You changing the subject on me?”

“No, just trying to learn more about your history together.”

Her eyes grew wide. “You want to know if we’ve been together?”

I shrugged. I knew what Sebastian told me, but it didn’t hurt to get her perspective too. If Luna had unresolved feelings for Sebastian, it wouldn’t be the first time a man and woman had a hard time separating friendship from romantic feelings.

Just then someone from Luna’s staff came in and dropped off a gin and tonic for me and some sort of martini for Luna.

Luna crossed her legs. “Sebastian is like a brother to me. Always has been. Besides, I like my guys a little tougher looking. Lots of tattoos, a few piercings, some leather. I’ve tried dating clean cut guys, but turns out, I’m attracted to assholes.”

That made me chuckle. “I know that feeling. Minus the tattoos. More like trust fund assholes, that’s historically been my kryptonite.”
