“Is that why you’re hesitant to try things out with Seb?”

I dug my top teeth into my bottom lip. “Maybe? It’s been a weird year for me and I’m trying to figure out what it is I want and need—what fulfills me, and it didn’t take that much soul searching to know that the kind of men I spent time with in the past aren’t worth my time at all.”

She lifted her glass to mine. “Amen to that.”

“Is Beck Bennett more your type?”

Luna sputtered her drink.

I handed her a napkin so she could wipe her mouth. “Bad timing.”

“Jesus, woman, how do you even know that name?”

“Sebastian may have let it slip that things get combustible when the two of you are in a room together.”

“Damn. Who knew Sebastian was in the business of sharing secrets? I’ll have to get him back for that.”

I chuckled, sipping on my drink. “So it seems like he might have been right about the Beck guy.”

“I’m not talking about him. He’s nobody we need to concern ourselves with.”

“Is he hot?” I prodded.

Luna gestured between us. “Is this payback? Is that what this is?”

“Pretty much.”

“Ugh, I like you already. I hope you give Sebastian grief too. He needs it.”

I laughed. “Trust me, I give him plenty of grief.”

“Good. Now let’s talk business while we wait for your man. I know all about you, of course. Thank you, tabloids. What’s your experience with interior design?”

That was random. “I don’t have any professional training, but I’m told I have a good eye.”

“I can tell by the way you dress you have a good eye. Any chance you want to look at some of the mockups that I received for the property I’m trying to build? I think something is wrong with them, but I can’t pin it down and I know the designer will pull their hair out if I can’t articulate what I don’t like about it and the last thing I want to do is waste money while they just take a stab in the dark.”

I stirred my drink. “I get that. Art is similar. It’s in the eye of the beholder and all that, but sometimes it can be difficult to explain what exactly calls to you and what doesn’t.”

“Are you an artist?”

“I am. Although I’m not sure I can consider myself an artist much longer if I don’t start painting again.”

“Writer’s block?” she asked.

I nodded. “Whatever the art equivalent is, then yes. I only have a few weeks to finish up a collection before my next gallery showing.”

“And things aren’t clicking?”

“They really aren’t and it’s driving me nuts. I can’t afford to not complete this collection. It would put a real dent in my credibility.”

Luna leaned forward, looking mischievous. “You need to be unblocked.”

I frowned, not knowing where she was going with this. “Yes...”

“You need to unleash some tension,” she nodded sagely.

True enough, considering the way my worries cluttered my mind.
